95% capacity factor is not desirable in a microgrid. A nuke in that environment would just ramp its own power up and down. Uranium is basically a super battery that runs for years on one charge, pre-charged billions of years ago by merging neutron stars.

So it turns out that Ukraine's issues with Starlink were caused by Ukraine.
Starlink terminals disconnected at speeds above 160 KPH, as determined by the Starlink terminals internal GPS.
To get around this, Ukraine hacked the Starlink terminals to think they were stationary regardless of speed.
SpaceX figured this out, and updated the system software to detect excessive speed by seeing how rapidly the terminal switched from on satellite to another. This broke Ukraine's hack, and Starlink would no longer work at high speeds.
Ukraine was using Starlink in a way that violated the terms of service.
Starlink figured it out and stopped it.

I refuse to let people like this destroy my faith in America and our political system. We will restore American greatness for all of our compatriots, including Elissa Slotkin. She will know we did all that we do for her. That is enough for me.

It’s too callous to talk about companies in this way as a VC
I try to teach my mentees “everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story”
Even if the journey gets tough there is a person who’s life’s work is behind the spreadsheet. Treat them with respect accordingly!

I’ve listened to every interview Chase has given- and this is by far the best yet. Chase boils down the seemingly complex @CrusoeAI in a way that I’ve never heard him do before, while also getting a glimpse of his warrior mindset. h/t @HarryStebbings for shining the light.
Why the AI infrastructure market is just like the energy market
“There are very interesting parallels between AI infrastructure and the energy market. There are a lot of different ways to make money across the value chain.
What Crusoe is focused on doing is building an AI super major, vertically integrated across upstream, midstream and downstream.
Where the margin accrues is going to move around. We are seeing a similar phenomenon play out in AI, where our margins are going to move around across electrical data centers, chips and services.” @ChaseLochmiller

One year ago he talked about how people often don't treat the cabin crew properly.

Hey @washingtonsun just a heads up, your website fails accessibility testing. You might want to consider using some AI tools. They help a lot.
The Trump administration wants AI to conduct the tests that ensure blind people and those with other disabilities can access the government websites that Americans use to sign up for benefits or find other critical information.
The outcry was immediate.

I'm proud to now be a Partner at @8VC, and I can't think of a better moment to be in this seat.
Startups are beautiful things designed to fight the inertia of the world, but they die if the world stands still. The question we ask every founder, "why now?", is a second-derivative one (incumbents handle a low, predictable rate of change just fine), so four years ago most pitches didn't have a great answer, and today these answers are inspiring and plentiful.
For years we argued for ideas outside consensus (that America needed to build again, that the legacy industries written off as bad software markets were exactly where AI would strip the tedium out of work). The Overton window has since moved our way, and more of the founders building in those markets now start with us.
Ambition has changed too. You used to wait for scaled PMF before shipping products 2 and 3, but software is now infinitely iterable (thanks @DevinAI), so the best teams chase the maximally ambitious version of their company far earlier, and the intensity of the work right now is contagious.
I'm an ambitious person myself, and I feel privileged to do this work at this moment. Thank you @JTLonsdale @AlexKolicich @andrewoetting and the whole 8VC team for the trust. Never been more optimistic.
AI and robotics are advancing faster than most predicted, opening up categories of companies that would have sounded like science fiction only a few years ago. @vvkgopalan has pushed our team to believe the future will arrive faster than consensus expects, and he has repeatedly been right. I’m excited to announce that Vivek has been promoted to Partner, six years after joining @8VC from Yale.
Vivek has earned the trust of exceptional researchers, engineers, and founders across AI and robotics, helping us partner with ambitious companies including @GeneralistAI, @BedrockRobotics, @edra_ai, @sablehq, @ValsAI, Bobyard and more. He genuinely loves the craft of company-building, helping founders pursue the maximally ambitious version of what they can build.
Vivek and I recently sat down with @GeneralistAI founder @peteflorence to discuss recent breakthroughs in general-purpose robotics. Listen to our conversation below.
Proud to call Vivek our Partner. To the frontier!

No he wasn’t. Those kids were all/mostly natural citizens. He’s just a retard who saw brown people and got mad. He should stick to railroads and stfu so we don’t accidentally elect the trans communist Talarico guy and fuck up the best state our country has !

Fantastic piece from @Chris_arnade on what tolerating anti-social behavior does to our public spaces:
"It’s a primary reason why we shy away from dense walkable spaces and instead move towards suburban sprawl.
People in the U.S. don’t respect, trust, or want to be around other random citizens, out of fear and disgust.
Japanese/European style urbanism—density, fantastic public transport, mixed-use zoning, that so many American tourists admire—can't happen here because there is a fine line between vibrant streets and squalid ones, and that line is public trust.
The U.S. is on the wrong side of it.
Simply put, nobody wants to be accosted by a stranger, no matter how infrequent, and until that risk is close to nil, people will continue edging towards isolated living.
It is why we “can’t have nice things” because we have to construct our infrastructure to be asshole-proof, and so we don’t build anything or build with a fortress mentality, stripping our public spaces down to the austere and utilitarian, emptying them of anything that can be vandalized."
Chris Arnade's blog continues to be one of the very best: walkingtheworld.substack.com. (You can also follow him: @chris_arnade.)

we have been getting videos like this from DSA meetings for years, and they are winning at least primaries now
we should be careful with condescension vs remembering that we must provide solutions to the people who feel left out of progress, or this fringe *will* get more power
🚨 “The More Dysgenic, the Better”: Beatrice Adler-Bolton Says the Left Must Give Up the “Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists”
At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.”
She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.”
“In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.”
She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.
