So last night, my friend @heyanshuman had a date that happened to be at a Hyatt. This punathon ensued this morning. You're welcome.
This earnest father was trying to teach his 3-year-old daughter "Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu..."
She listened intently until he finished, paused for a minute and then sang

Uyi amma haay haay main toh mar gayi
Uyi amma haay haay main toh bikhar gayi

Why is nobody talking about them? Simple. Because they are India’s marginalised!
India’s middle-class and the so-called upper castes are deaf, blind and mute to the cries of the Dalits and Adivasis. There is no outrage. No candlelight protest. No solidarity.
Mark my words. This very lack of accountability in governance and authoritarianism that harms the marginalised will soon begin to affect the middle-class. The systematic decay will consume them too!
By the time the urban middle class finally decides to care, because the rot has finally reached their own doorstep, it will be too late.
She is not a criminal. She isn't carrying a weapon. She is just an Adivasi woman fighting for Jal-Jangal-Jameen and her constitutional rights.
This is how she is being treated. There are countless others facing the same. Why is nobody talking about them??

Did a tree fall in the forest yesterday? It's hard to tell from the front pages of the business dailies today. #DELHI20JUL
Thank you, @NewIndianXpress & Raksha Maalya, for this lovely review of Folktales from Tamil Nadu that captures the vibe and why of my book brilliantly.

When my first book Folktales from Tamil Nadu was published last month, I hoped it would bring joy to readers -- children -- of all ages. Along the way, I'm discovering an utterly delightful new source of joy for myself.

Besides being the champion for Indian writing that Aparajita at @AttaGalatta was, what stood out about our conversation was her unpretentious and unabashed love for books. I rounded off the day at @ChampacaBooks where good food, good moods and good reads go hand in hand.

I hope Folktales from Tamil Nadu brings you a little bit of the joy that these and more book stores everywhere put out into the world. And if there's no bookstore near you, you can always find it on Amazon here: amzn.in/d/00hxR8A6 (currently only shipping in India).
There's an indescribable joy in being among books and readers.
It got doubled yesterday in Hyderabad, with the opportunity to not just sign my book Folktales from Tamil Nadu but to say thanks to every reader who will pick up this book, with a little personal note for them. +
It started with the iconic @himalaya_book in Punjagutta.
Then onto the completely fall-in-love-able Off The Shelf in HITEC city.
And topped off with a brief but lovely interaction with an eager young reader at @Bahrisons_books.

Thank you, @WestlandBooks Books and Red Panda India for making this happen.
The day ended on a high with @Venkrek and other kids from my childhood. We grew older together but we have steadfastly refused to grow up.
I hope the book brings joy to whoever it meets :)
