ICYMI: I dove into the ins and outs of Michael Malone’s offensive scheme from his time with the Denver Nuggets.
Some plays/actions from this piece: 21, Cross Match Hunting, Delay, Wide, Wedge, Elbow 54 Exit, Horns Flex, Stack Elbow, etc.

I included clip compilations with examples (and diagrams) of several series from Malone’s playbook.
For example, here’s a look at some of the actions that Denver ran out of 21/Pistol: Step, Slip, Flare, Ghost, Jokic, Chase, Dribble, Nash, and Spread.

Neat to see that Michael Malone is wasting no time in teaching plays and concepts — slot cuts during post traps (clip 1), flare screens out of 5-Out/Delay (clip 2), Horns Flex (clip 4) — from his time with the Denver Nuggets.

Triple big is back.
Michigan rode its size to a national championship. Florida and Illinois went big in a major way last season, and both have the personnel to do it again.

Brendan Haywood says offensive identity has left the league:
“I call a lot of college basketball last year, and I do pro. And the one difference I see is offense identity. If you watch a college game, Duke don’t play like Carolina, Carolina don’t play like Michigan, Michigan don’t play like Nebraska or whoever, or Kansas, right? But when you watch a NBA game everybody plays the same but it didn’t used to be like that. Because when we came in the league the Nets was running the Princeton, the Lakers were running the triangle then you had Sacramento running the high post offense with Vlade and them boys. Golden State run and gun, low post offense, cross screens. Everybody played to their strengths because they said this is what we do. Then you know what happened everybody came in with the IPads and everything else and analytics, and they said, “Hey, we want to be pace and space and shoot threes mid pick and roll spread game the whole NBA plays like that.”
You watch every NBA game now a days you see the same offense it is hard to tell each teams identity when you all play the same style.

At least we learned that a lot of people hate journalism and sports media has been so poisoned that people don’t even understand what journalism is anymore. Because they were really mad at a journalist for looking into the shady dealings of a billionaire.

BREAKING: The NBA has ruled on the Los Angeles Clippers in for salary cap circumvention investigations on Kawhi Leonard after yearlong probe -- stripping the franchise of 5 first-round picks, issuing a $30 million fine to owner Steve Ballmer and suspensions for Ballmer, Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, sources tell ESPN.
Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.
