I just signed this petition and Iβm urging everyone in the creative profession to do the same. (Although itβs a personal disappointment that dozens of creative orgs posted the statement without including an alt text. I had to scroll long & deep to find this one π so bravo twuc)
Alongside an intl coalition, TWUC is mobilizing to gather signatories on a Statement on #AI training. Thousands of writers & other creators agree: Training generative AI on people's work without permission must NOT be allowed. Join us & sign the statement: aitrainingstatement.org

In Interview 7, Kim Fahner @modernirish " makes an important link between volunteerism & the writing community: "..in my work with @twuc, I continue to speak of the rewards of volunteerism and non-profit work....By working together, whether through mentorship, or through volunteering to help build community, we make our writerly community in Canada stronger and more tightly woven."

As First Vice-Chair of The Writersβ Union of Canada, Iβm honoured to have been invited to speak on behalf of school libraries in Ontario by the @ONLibraryAssoc. If you care about literacy and Ontario kids, please show your support by signing the petition. @twuc
Why does Ontario author Kim Fahner love school libraries? It has to do with their value, her earliest memories, and favourite books. Tune in to hear as @modernirish shares her #DearSchoolLibrary video.
