In the latest episode of the Digital Banking Podcast, host Josh DeTar welcomed Nick Wodogaza, credit union champion and advisor with CuS Together, and former CEO of Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union. Wodogaza spent 45 years in the credit union movement across just two employers, a state league and Palmetto Citizens, where he led for 28 years before retiring to work with credit unions full time. Wodogaza laid out a framework he used in strategic planning sessions: important issues were rarely urgent, and urgent issues were rarely important, which meant credit unions often spent their time firefighting instead of addressing the member-focused, people, and operations issues that actually determined their future. bit.ly/4BvCO2N

🚀 Tyfone is putting AI at the center of digital banking. Tyfone has unveiled nFinia Reimagined, a new digital banking platform with Fathom AI woven throughout the experience — bringing natural-language conversations, personalized financial guidance and banking actions into one place. iTHINK Financial will be the first Tyfone customer to launch Fathom, with the AI-powered experience expected to go live this fall. Why now? According to the 2026 TD Bank AI Insights Report, 55% of Americans already use AI to help manage their finances. The challenge for community financial institutions is keeping those conversations — and the financial relationship — inside the institution. As Tyfone CEO Siva Narendra puts it: “AI isn’t another feature we’ve added to digital banking. It’s woven throughout the experience.” bit.ly/4gtcvQR

Two credit unions. Nearly $8 billion in assets. A bigger footprint across the Pacific Northwest. @numericacu and @SELCOCCU plan to merge, creating Oregon’s second-largest Oregon-chartered credit union, with more than 325,000 members and 38 branches. The deal, expected to be completed by early 2028, would put Numerica CEO Carla Cicero at the helm of the combined organization, which will operate under the Numerica name. The credit unions say they plan to retain all existing branches as they combine their technology, products and resources. The proposed merger is the latest sign of credit unions pursuing greater scale while working to preserve their local ties. How big can credit unions get without losing what makes them different? The proposed $13.5 billion UFCU-MSUFCU merger raises a bigger question for the entire credit union movement: Can institutions pursue scale, invest in technology and compete with big banks without losing the local relationships and cooperative values that set them apart? In this thought-provoking op-ed, Michael Murdoch of University Credit Union examines the trade-offs behind consolidation — and argues that growth should be measured by the value it delivers to members, not just the size of the balance sheet. 💬 Where should credit unions draw the line between getting bigger and staying different? 🤖 Is AI becoming the new front door to financial services? A new five-part white paper from Tyfone CEO Siva Narendra argues that data aggregation, conversational AI and digital payments are weakening traditional advantages that credit unions and community banks have long relied on. The biggest question may be who owns the member relationship when consumers increasingly turn to outside platforms to manage money and get financial advice. Narendra’s answer isn’t to chase every new technology. It’s to focus on where community institutions still have an edge — trust, lending, local relationships and credit expertise — while using technology to strengthen those advantages. bit.ly/3UzsOEy

Faster lending. Smarter decisions. Better member experiences. In this edition of "5 Questions with..." John Holt, the president and CEO of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union discusses how digital loan origination can speed up decisions, reduce manual work and make borrowing easier — without sacrificing sound underwriting or fraud prevention. Holt also explains why system integration matters and which metrics credit unions should track to determine whether their technology investments are paying off. In the latest episode of the Digital Banking Podcast, host Josh DeTar of Tyfone welcomed Alice Sesay Pope, a customer experience executive and author who spent her career transforming service organizations at Capital One, Visa, USAA, and Amazon. Pope trained as a chemical engineer before moving into financial services, where she learned to pair rigorous process design with the soft skills that let frontline employees actually help people. Pope described the current moment as a “trust recession,” pointing to Pew Research showing that the population using generative AI tools the most also trusted it the least. She and DeTar traced how quickly usage grew anyway, citing a TD Bank survey in which the share of consumers using AI to help with their finances jumped from 10% in 2025 to 55% in 2026.

In lending, speed can be a competitive advantage. Borrowers want competitive rates, but they also want quick decisions and a clear path to funding. When one lender can move an application forward overnight while another is still requesting paperwork, convenience can make all the difference. For credit unions and community banks, digital loan origination can help reduce manual delays, streamline the lending process and compete on speed — without losing the personal service that sets them apart. Where are manual processes slowing your lending team down? Read the blog to learn why speed matters and how digital loan origination can help: bit.ly/47X9xQH #CreditUnions #CommunityBanks #DigitalLending #LoanOrigination #LendingTechnology #DigitalTransformation
