Digitizing their @ThinkingMaps & annotations to process and begin writing.
Student choice of app to use.
Thanks @MarviaDavidson for book recommendation! @ryanleak provided many nuggets of wisdom! My fave, making sure I can describe my version of success so I can level up with intention! Goes with our schools theme this year @Jenni1002Smith
Took a large circle map to hold all the things 6th grade learned about colonization! @ThinkingMaps @nherisd
Of course -wouldn’t be complete without a 6 7 hidden in there!
Just a sampling of 6th grade Social Studies @ThinkingMaps So much great thinking, learning, & growing. @nherisd
Smashing all the things- @padlet for collaboration & curation. @librarycongress primary source analysis tool & digital primary sources. And @ThinkingMaps tree map to categorize our thinking. Kids are having rich discussions about social studies!

Because of all the bureaucracy and external pressure, being an educator of multilingual learners can feel overwhelming.
Staying focused on the students and what they need helps us to accomplish our goals as their teachers.
They need educators who believe in them and see their strengths.
They need instruction in every classroom that integrates language and content.
They need cheerleaders who will celebrate their accomplishments big and small along the way.
They need advocates will stand up for their rights, who will fight for what is best, and help pave a path toward success.
They need to see themselves and their experiences in the books and resources throughout the school helping them to feel seen and understood.
They need to belong…in the classroom, school, and community through friendship and clubs or sports and other activities. This sense of connection gives them confidence making them WANT to come to school.
They need YOU. ♥️🙏🏽🌎

In 1969, two researchers gave more than one thousand kids the same test NASA uses to measure creativity.
What they found was shocking.
It didn’t just reveal how creativity works — it showed how we lose it.
