Great students, and great fun for me!
This fall Jack Henneman (@jbhenneman) joined UATX as visiting faculty in history.
Host of The History of the Americans, Henneman is teaching nine classes on the founding before the Founding: the century and a half before 1776, when Spanish, Dutch, English, and Native powers competed for North America.
His advice to students: avoid presentism, "the application of today's morality to events in the past," because it "interferes with your ability to understand the people and events of the past."

Rome’s founding story is probably a myth. But can a made-up story still tell the truth?

This sounds awesome. 👇 Amazing what things are within our reach today that we wouldn’t have dreamed of 25 years ago.
Tomorrow we're releasing a full UATX course for free: all 19 lectures of Professor Isabella Reinhardt's Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome, filmed in class with our students.
It runs from Rome's mythical founding to the Third Century Crisis. It ends on a question the class spent a whole session arguing about: did Rome ever really fall?
The lead up to All Souls Day is a time for Catholics to reflect on all those who have come before them. It’s also a time for Christians and non-believers to gather. UATX President Carlos Carvalho and his son Otto joined the Catholic Association and other students for Mass, brunch, and a trip to the pumpkin patch.

What a phenomenal way to highlight the first counterattack in retaking academia from the Left and re-making it education not indoctrination.

Bravo. This is outstanding. And what a class to present given the times in which we live. It’s also a good showcase for a bold new—old, really—university.

I am a longtime supporter of the University of Austin, so I was anxious to get a glimpse into one of its courses. My wife and I watched the first episode this afternoon, and it was fantastic. Professor Reinhardt is organized, articulate, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. If I were a student at the college, I couldn't wait for the next session of class.
