The man in the window is Gustave Caillebotte’s brother René.
René died months later at 25.
That death marked a turning point in Gustave’s life. Two days later he wrote his first will. He already thought people in his family died young.
He left his Impressionist collection to the French state.
René’s death made him think more about his legacy and posterity.
Thanks to that we still have dozens of works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, Sisley and Cézanne.
There's something in this painting most people miss.
In Caillebotte's Young Man at His Window, the real protagonist may be a woman.
The young man seems to be watching an elegantly dressed woman crossing the street.
Caillebotte uses the woman to achieve two things:
1. Perspective. He draws our eyes towards her, using her position to guide our gaze down to the street.
2. Modernity. He takes us from a traditional bourgeois interior to modern Paris, with its new Haussmann boulevards and a sophisticated woman walking alone.
This is why it's considered one of the masterpieces of its time.

He will have zero reservations about using force or violence to stay in power…because he is a privileged ass and because it wouldn’t be his fat ass on the field or in the arena fighting.
He feels totally insulated from any repercussions for his stupidity.
So yes, worst case scenario…it could get ugly and violent. I’m hopeful that as MAGA realizes he is a con and traitor that there will be fewer idiots willing to shed their blood for him.
And as significant and important will be how the House and Senate apply themselves in guiding the Nations recovery.
We have so much real work to do, and it can’t be their old business as usual mode of doing nothing.
All of us need to stay plugged in…as these assholes in DC have already shown that they will work for themselves before ever considering to work for us.

Police punch Hispanic man already pinned to ground—22 times.
Officer had already shot him with taser.
"He stiffly hit the ground after being tased, and his head banged on asphalt," said witness.
"Cop mounts him and starts beating—later 3 more piled on."
Just because man was standing in the road blocking some traffic.
Witnesses say he looked like he was having a mental episode—and was not trying to harm anyone.
Emergency crews were called and took the man to the hospital.
Local police confirmed the incident occurred at 3:15 pm—but released no other details except to say it was "under review."
Incident occurred on Auburn Way near 37th Street NE in Auburn, Washington.
