I have been following the uranium market for a decade. The biggest investing "error" I have seen during that time has been investors focusing on a stagnating (or falling) spot price and assuming that tells the whole story.
This has also been the a recurring opportunity. 🧵
Correct
$CCJ Cameco cash cost +22% yoy, total cost +19% yoy
$KAP.L Kazatomprom cash cost +45% yoy, AISC +35% yoy
When even the 2 best performing, lowest cost producers in the world see spectacular cost inflation and are struggling to generate proper return on invested capital, the price must go up by A LOT to incentivize and sustain the level of production needed to meet demand in 2030 and beyond.
Physical uranium funds $YCA.L $SPUT $U.UN.TO trading at a deep discount to the spot which itself is trading at a sizeable discount to the *lowest offer*(!) long term price, is a no brainer bet right now.

Congrats to the @xenergynuclear on completing the @NRCgov safety review for Project Long Mott with @DowNewsroom ! Next up is a full construction permit and shovels in the ground! #nuclear #uranium
The NRC has completed its safety review for our proposed project with Dow. With both primary reviews now complete, the project advances toward construction permit approval, establishing a foundation for future Xe-100 licensing.

Cameco — and Grant, specifically — knows more about the uranium market than any fuel buyer, investor/speculator, sell-side analyst, or bank. I can assure you of this. They aren’t going to budge on these terms, and the market WILL come to them. Just watch.

📍Unleashing American nuclear energy in Michigan:
“In addition to the added power to the grid, [the Palisades Plant] alone will account for about 650 jobs here.”

Thanks to President Trump, Michigan’s Palisades Nuclear Plant is set to restart later this year. It will lower costs for millions of Michiganders, create jobs and prevent blackouts.
We are all in on energy addition!

Uranium miners are under pressure. Uranium fundamentals tell a different story.
Despite the recent selloff in mining equities, spot uranium prices remain firm and long-term contract prices are at record levels. We examine the forces behind this disconnect and why nuclear growth, tightening inventories and constrained mine supply continue to underpin the long-term outlook.

UxC reporting $91.45/lb. Spot U3O8 (looks like the day will close a bit higher even). The highest spot price since early February.

Visited Byron Nuclear Station, where Energy Department announced a loan to produce more electricity from Byron and other existing Midwest plants—one of the fastest, most affordable ways to add reliable power.
@POTUS’ energy addition agenda in action: more energy, lower costs.
Get it
.@SecretaryWright on nuclear: "We're restarting three power plants, upgrading power plants all across the country, and soon, you'll be hearing announcements about new reactors being constructed. The nuclear renaissance is REAL."

Global Laser Enrichment's proposed laser enrichment facility in Kentucky has passed the NRC's environmental impact evaluation. The NRC safety evaluation will likely be completed the end of this year. Article link in Kentucky.
After the environmental and safety evaluations are finished, an NRC construction license will be issued.
The LT U3O8 price keeps chugging higher. Now at a nominal ATH of $97/lb. as per UxC.
UxC also reporting a +$1.05/lb. move for spot uranium to $90.90/lb.
The 5-year forward price of $112/lb. and LT ceilings ~$160/lb. escalated show significant seller leverage.

The uranium market is creating its own future supply problem.
Uranium is holding around $90/lb, yet uranium mining stocks are getting hammered.
Justin Huhn made some interesting observations in his latest Going Nuclear interview.
Part of the selling may have little to do with uranium fundamentals. Hedge funds are unwinding AI-related investment baskets, institutions are reducing risk, and uranium equities are getting caught in the crossfire.
But here's where things get interesting.
Deep Yellow recently postponed its final investment decision on the Tumas uranium project in Namibia, citing weak equity market conditions.
Think about the implications.
We keep hearing that the world needs more uranium. Yet the companies supposed to deliver that uranium are struggling to raise the money needed to build their mines.
Meanwhile, China and India are aggressively securing future supply through long-term contracts and strategic investments.
Western developers remain far more dependent on shareholder capital and sufficiently attractive uranium contracts.
The longer this situation continues, the more future production risks being delayed.
Of course, that doesn't automatically make every beaten-down uranium stock attractive. Some projects simply aren't economical enough, even at today's prices.
But I increasingly believe the opportunity is in established producers and developers with large, profitable deposits and realistic financing options.
The uranium price is holding up. The stocks are getting crushed. And the resulting financing problems could make the next supply shortage even worse.
An interesting discussion with Justin Huhn and Trevor Hall on Going Nuclear.
