lando on why he believes drivers should take responsibility for getting the most out of their cars:
"you can still try and do a better job. every driver can always try and do a better job. if i get told, 'lando you can have a car that can win the world championship, but you have to figure out your driving a little bit more. or you're not going to win a world championship, but you're happy in the car.' which one are you going to choose? they [mercedes] have a driver that can win a world championship. they're not going to start making it differently, are they?
for me, to keep it as simple as i can, i always think if my teammate has beaten me in a car, i haven't done a good enough job. i've never blamed my equipment. i always look at myself first. i just had to change what i was comfortable doing. i had to change my expectation. i had to change what felt good versus what didn't feel good. for me, that's always been the expectation every year. it's not, my way should be the way."

"i guess it's just always a surprise. you never know what you're going to get. i started streaming doing it. it's just fun to open boxes and try and find cards that you might be the only one in the world that has that kind of card, whether it's of me or kimi.
kimi cards this year have gone nuts. someone sold one of the cards for like 20K at the beginning of the year, and now it sold for a million. so poor guy! lost out on a lot of money. i don't necessarily do it for the money, but it's exciting. it's something fun to do with your friends, and who wouldn't want a one-of-one david coulthard glove?"

"what made it tough was the fact that we won races this season, which already i thought was a huge achievement in itself - to go from where we were at the beginning of the season to winning two, almost three races.
i see that as a pretty huge success from where we were. what has hurt is the fact we've kind of drifted away from that, more because all the teams have brought big upgrades and improved in better ways than what we have over the last couple of months."
