Why donโt we break the box altogether?
Dr @DrCallistTindi of the @min_waterUg called for a fresh approach to water development as Uganda prepares for the #UNWaterConference2026.
His message: water investments must go beyond infrastructure to create jobs, strengthen livelihoods
Uganda loses 2.9% of its GDP every year to poor water, sanitation and hygiene. Only 18% of us use safely managed drinking water.
The draft National WASH Pact needs your input: Pact or Compact? 2030 or 2040?
Tell us below. #UNWaterConference2026
Ugandaโs WASH priorities must translate into action.
At the stakeholder engagement meeting preparing for the #UNWaterConference2026, @uwasnet's E.D @YuniaMusaazi emphasised the need to ensure that Ugandaโs priorities reflect the realities of the communities we serve.
credible financing and clear responsibilities.
Collective action: Government, civil society, development partners, the private sector and academia must work together to close service delivery gaps.
The goal is simple: turn commitments into real improvements in peopleโs lives
through equitable access to safe water & sanitation, climate resilience & better protection of our water resources.
@uwasnet appreciates @WaterAidUganda, @sanwatforall, @UNICEFUganda and @min_waterUg for creating space for meaningful stakeholder engagement.
HAPPENING NOW | Shaping Ugandaโs Voice on Water and Sanitation
What should Uganda bring to the global conversation on water and sanitation?
The @min_waterUg , together with @uwasnet, is engaging WASH stakeholders to review draft thematic papers, Ugandaโs position paper
and the proposed WASH PACT ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi.
The goal is simple: bring diverse voices together to ensure Ugandaโs priorities and experiences inform global action on water and sanitation.

Handwashing saves lives. Access to handwashing facilities makes it possible.
This #GlobalHandwashingDay, under the theme โBe a Handwashing Hero!โ, UWASNET calls for collective action to make handwashing with soap accessible to everyone, everywhere.
As Ugandaโs network of WASH Civil Society Organisations, UWASNET champions sector coordination, policy advocacy, and knowledge sharing to strengthen hygiene practices and improve WASH service delivery.
We call on government, CSOs, development partners, and communities to invest in handwashing facilities, promote hygiene education, and turn commitments into lasting action.
Good hygiene should not be a privilege. It is a shared responsibility.
#BeAHandwashingHero
