is our champion today leading up to #WorldHeartDay2026. Bora, joined Team Heart in 2025 to improve post-operative follow-up for patients to return home with more confidence and support local providers. Navigating the entire operative experience, she supports each step of the process. Pre-op preparation, post-operative care, and discharge teaching @kfaisalhospital , working closely with the surgical and medical teams for continuity and consistency. Nurses at the district level call when questions arise or patients have challenges after returning home. She collects selected data to improve care and support policy. Good outcomes depend on connecting all the moving parts to streamline, increase quality of care, and make sure all are included across the patient pathway. #teamwork @worldheartfed

#WorldHeartDay2026 Leading up to September 29, we have met wonderful people working to provide access to cardiac care. #HeartHealthChampion Lamin E. S. Jaiteh, MD is one of only 3 cardiologists in The Gambia for 2.8 million people. Trained as an interventional cardiologist, he has partnered with The International organization, Global Cardio-Thoracic Collaborative to improve access to pacemaker implants at the Edward Small Teaching Hospital. This #HeartHealthChampion receives up to 40 patients a day to diagnose and treat with little resources and resources. The burden of heart disease he covers includes congenital heart, rheumatic and ischemic heart disease. Dr. Jaiteh’s positive outlook and the support of his hospital and the willingness to collaborate are key to the future of heart disease care in his country. @TeamHeart is proud to collaborate!

Today, @TeamHeartRwanda volunteer and renowned cardiologist Prof. #Gregg S Pressman from @TJUHospital mentored the clinical team at @KibagabagaH on assessing cardiac conditions and confirmed cases initially detected by #NCD nurses.
This initiative strengthens the skills and expertise of NCD nurses and clinical teams in the early detection, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular conditions, including Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) and Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

Minister of State @YvanButera visited the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Cardiac Care Unit @kfaisalhospital.
Over the past four years, the center has performed more than 1,100 cardiac surgeries, reflecting the country’s growing capacity in highly specialized care. Rwanda now has its first pediatric interventional cardiologist, pediatric cardiac intensivist, and pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist, trained in Israel through the partnership with @SaveChildsHeart while additional specialists continue advanced training in Rwanda and abroad in cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac anesthesia, and cardiac critical care.
Today, more patients can access life-saving cardiac services closer to home, delivered by a growing cadre of highly skilled professionals.

Today, we proudly hosted the official launch of the ACT-CHIK Project (Accelerating #Chikungunya Vaccine Development in Africa). Over the next three days, partners from across the globe will explore strategies to advance clinical trials and lay the groundwork for chikungunya vaccine manufacturing in Africa.
Led by the Institut Pasteur and funded by the Global Health EDCTP3, the four-year initiative unites seven partners from #Rwanda, #France, #Senegal, #Brazil, #Nigeria, #Kenya, and #SouthKorea.
Clinical trials will be conducted in #Rwanda, #Kenya, #Nigeria, and #Senegal, generating critical evidence to accelerate vaccine development for African populations, including younger age groups.
