You could move to New York City. Rent an 852-square-foot apartment for $5,503 a month. Blow $500 on three “first dates” a week and somehow remain single for six years. Finally meet someone you like, then discover they’re “not really looking for anything serious right now.” Get a master’s degree so you can qualify for an internship. Apply to 147 jobs, get 93 automated rejections, and finally find an “entry-level” position requiring five years of experience. Eventually land a six-figure job and still need a roommate to make rent. Pay federal income tax, New York State income tax, AND New York City income tax because apparently living there is a three-level subscription. Learn that a “quiet neighborhood” means the sirens only come by every 20 minutes. Pay $27 every day for a sandwich (no sides) because the place has exposed brick and a handwritten menu. Take the subway to work every morning and develop the useful skill of pretending not to notice absolutely anything happening around you. Spend 45 minutes traveling three miles. Carry your groceries home six blocks because parking near your apartment is more of a philosophical concept than an actual possibility. Have “owning a washer and dryer” become one of your primary measures of generational wealth. Walk past a mountain of trash bags on your way to a restaurant with a Michelin star. Tell your friends back home you don’t need a car while spending $46 on an Uber because the subway is delayed again. Go to Central Park when you want to remember what trees look like. Spend your twenties telling everyone you could NEVER live anywhere else. Then one day you visit your cousin in Iowa. He has a house with four bedrooms, a garage, a yard, two cars, four kids, and somehow pays less than you do for the apartment where your refrigerator touches your couch. But hey. The NYC bagels are incredible.

Die Kosten des Bahnhofs Stuttgart 21 liegen mit 14,5 Mrd. Euro höher als der Aufbau der geopolitisch transformativen Satellitenkonstellation Starlink mit etwa 12 Mrd. Dollar. Stuttgart 21 hat 23 Jahre Bauzeit, der Aufbau von Starlink dauerte 6 Jahre. Keine Pointe.

Universities do not exist to promote "marginalized voices." They do not exist to promulgate social engineering experiments. They do not exist to engage in social justice activism. A university exists to expand the boundaries of human knowledge, to defend truth, and to create an ecosystem for intellectual enrichment. Once a university optimizes the wrong variables, we end up with the parasitized minds that we now see populating academia, business, politics, journalism, culture, etc. The West in general and the US in particular were founded on a set of key ideals that are unique to human history. Do not presume that these ideals are the default reality. There is always a tsunami of miscreants who are working day and night to end our liberties and freedoms, and destroy these ideals. Be vigilant. Fight for our civilization. Activate your inner honey badger.

Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris." The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones. This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

Well, the problem is no longer just logistics. It's volumes too. Period. Russia's refinery system is now short roughly 200kbpd of gasoline versus domestic demand of around 880kbpd, according to our data, and that is before the overnight strikes on Omsk & YANOS. Diesel is more complicated because of the split between high- and low-sulfur grades, but that market is tightening rapidly too as the agricultural season gets underway. Overall refinery throughput is down 34% vs our 2022 baseline. At that point, shortages become behavioural as much as physical. There may be enough high-sulfur diesel nationally, but distribution bottlenecks and the usual Russian middlemen games mean some regions and consumers will be favoured over others. Meanwhile, households begin panic buying. That's not a bug. It's a feature of every supply crisis. Once that psychology takes hold, no government can simply decree it away. @khodorkovsky_en is right that imports from Belarus, Kazakhstan and India can cushion part of the deficit. But they are no silver bullet. Belarus and Kazakhstan have limited export capacity, while imports from farther afield such as India where Rosneft owns partly a plant (China currently does not export products) are slower and more expensive. If Ukraine destroys refinery output faster than Russia can replace it, the deficit simply keeps growing. This is a dynamic campaign, not a static one. Time is now Ukraine's ally, not the Kremlin's. It is shaping up to be a very long, hot summer for the Kremlin. @Gerashchenko_en @JayinKyiv @Kasparov63

By volume this is not yet a catastrophe. Refining output is down by roughly a quarter, which in monthly terms means hundreds of thousands of tons. Russia could buy that fuel abroad and bring it in. The breakdown is in logistics and decision-making. [4/12]

On top of the existing fuel hysteria in Russia, Ukrainians decided to troll them even harder by flooding a Russian app where drivers share fuel availability updates with fake reviews.

Since February, I've designed and built the world's fastest RC airplane in my college dorm, and that’s not clickbait. Reaper has a 5kg carbon-fiber frame, 250N turbojet, and flies at 500mph. New to X and will be going through the whole build here in the coming days. #aerospace

Turkey's astonishing fertility collapse Turkey's president Erdoğan made it his mission to revive birthrates. Instead, Turkish fertility has fallen faster than almost anywhere on Earth to just 1.42 in 2025 (just 1.2 outside of Kurdistan). What happened, and what can we learn? 🧵.

Honestly, this says a lot about Ukrainians. I can hear three voices reacting to the missile strikes: one younger person reacts emotionally and loudly, while the other two older men are like, “Ahhh, please stop yelling, calm down, it’s just bullets.” And it was all said with a very specific cultural accent, in colorful Ukrainian language 😅👌

🚨BULGARIANS HONESTLY TELL FOREIGN INTERVIEWER THEY WANT TO PRESERVE THEIR OWN COUNTRY AND IDENTITY — “IT’S A DIFFERENT WORLD THERE” 🇧🇬🔥 In a viral street interview from Bulgaria, a foreign interviewer asks random people about their views on mixing cultures and living together. Many Bulgarians answer openly and without shame: they strongly prefer to keep their own national identity, culture, and way of life. One man calmly states his position is “11 out of 10” when asked about attachment to his own people. The interviewer repeatedly brings up questions about intermixing as if it were completely normal and expected. The French poster comments: “It’s another world in Bulgaria.”
