What a disgraceful headline, @guardian. Norway adored King Harald. Linking his death to the Epstein scandal in the headline is tasteless, unnecessary and deeply disrespectful. @jonhenley

It’s fun to go through this article and replace the word ‘ageing’ with the words ‘cancer’ or ‘dementia’. I don’t think longevity science is ageist—I want everyone to have a chance to be healthy, however old they are!

Nah, I’m tired of FIFA’s “trust me bro, just take our word for it” nonsense. You can literally see the ball change directions after it deflects off the cable. – at Austin, TX
Breaking: re the ball possibly hitting camera cable in lead up to England goal, FIFA says they "have checked the data and no peak on the graph from the connected ball heartbeat sensor"

I’m very familiar w/the mouse paper that motivated this, mechanistic rationale and the hurdles for it to “work”… but if it does, it’s historic as retinal neurons are CNS (effectively “brain”). Best of luck @davidasinclair & team. nature.com/articles/d41586-0…

One shot and you’re protected from heart disease. Imagine that for cancer, dementia and aging
It feels very futuristic to imagine a world with one-and-done therapies that lower LDL cholesterol for life, but... it might not be far off! These are new phase 1 data for Verve/Lilly's PCSK9 base editor: one single intravenous infusion reduces LDL cholesterol by as much as 60%

The odds of having dementia at age 85 were close to 1 in 3 in the 80s; now they are 1 in 10. I don’t think we have a great explanation: better cardiovascular health, diet, and education are often mentioned. Good news nonetheless. Carnall Farrar. (2025, March 27). Dementia trends.

In double-blind placebo-controlled trials, 'gluten-sensitive' people who *think* they're going to eat gluten have reactions. But if they don't expect gluten, there's no reaction. Expectancy has a bigger effect than actually eating gluten!

Incredibly interesting result here. Combining rapamycin with exercise didn't help and may have even impaired exercise adaptations in older adults! Reminds me of metformin (also once marketed as a "longevity drug"), which also blunts exercise adaptations in certain contexts.
Our Rapamycin & Exercise clinical trial has just been published! The topline result? Rapamycin didn't help. Instead, it may have made things worse. Here's what we found 🧵 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

.@BradStanfieldMD remortgaged his house to get this trial over the line, which would make anyone invested in getting a positive result: but they didn’t get one and, true to character, he tells it straight. Disappointing, but science sometimes is:
