The Binance hacker might have just pulled off one of the smartest moves I’ve seen in crypto.
First, Tether froze $1.5 billion in USDT.
Then Circle froze another $800 million in USDC.
At that point, it looked like the hacker’s money was trapped.
But apparently, he had already planned for that.
Instead of holding the stolen USDT in a wallet, he allegedly deposited it into Aave and used it as collateral to borrow ETH.
Then he walked away.
That’s where the story gets crazy.
Tether can freeze the USDT sitting in the wallet.
But it can’t freeze the ETH he already borrowed.
So now Aave is left holding frozen collateral, while the hacker is sitting on liquid ETH.
And unless the protocol can recover it somehow, he may not even need to pay the loan back.
Two companies froze billions of dollars in seconds.
But someone who understood how to use DeFi may have found a way around both of them.
Pretty insane when you think about it.

I'd rather see Evander Kane back on the Oilers than Matt Rempe.
If Kane is OK playing fourth line minutes, and to buy in to what Babcock is selling, he can help a team.
Would you take Evander Kane back if the price was low and the role was clear? There’s a case for exploring it—and plenty of reasons for caution.

Tom Cruise says he spent months preparing Emily Blunt’s 85 pound exosuit for Edge of Tomorrow, only for her to struggle with its weight before he told her to “stop being a wuss” and later became overprotective after discovering she was secretly pregnant.
“I’d spent months prepping it and working on it,” Tom said.
“He told me to stop being a wuss. It was the best thing just to make me laugh because I was like, ‘If he hugs me right now, it’s over.’”
“During reshoots, Tom was confused about why I wasn’t doing all the stunts. Eventually, I told him, ‘Because I’m growing a human.’”
“He started helping me downstairs. He was almost overboard. I was like, ‘Tom, I’m fine. I can do stairs.’”

Scratching Walman and them going out and blanking a team that was a heater is such good music to my ears.
Walmans was warranted and it sends a message to the whole squad saying I don’t care what you make or the name on your back, if you’re not playing well, you’re not playing

In 2003 an accountant named Chris Moneymaker joined an $86 poker tournament by accident, then tried to lose it on purpose. He failed at both and won $2.5 million.
In the video below he tells it himself: "I couldn't sell the seat and 4th place was $8,000 in cash. I tried to get 4th place. That was my goal. I wanted to get 4th place. We got down pretty deep and I started trying to dump some chips to get 4th place."
He had meant to join a cash game. He says he had about $200 in his account at the time, and only worked out afterwards that he had registered for a satellite into a satellite into the World Series of Poker. He says he never would have played if he had known.
That $86 game fed into a $630 one with 69 players and three seats to the Main Event. Three seats meant fourth place was the first losing position, and it paid $8,000 in cash. He wanted the cash. The seat couldn't be sold or transferred in 2003 — you played it or you burned it.
So he started throwing chips away. While he was doing it, a friend noticed, called him, and bought half his action.
He couldn't lose. He got a seat.
He had never played a live tournament in his life. In Vegas he knocked out Phil Ivey without knowing who Ivey was — he only knew three players in the world. Then he beat Sam Farha heads-up, going all in on the river with King high and nothing else.
$86 became $2,500,000. That is 29,070 times his money.
He was aiming for $8,000. He missed by $2,492,000.
He calls the whole run a lottery ticket. But nobody bluffs Sam Farha off a pair with King high by accident. So which is it — was he lucky, or is he a genius?

Frank Seravalli believes the Oilers may be eying Matt Rempe.
I don’t think he’d be a good idea. He has not played much and this is a different era. Teams win the Cup with 4 good lines that can make plays and defend.
Florida and Carolina are good examples.

Shawn Horcoff was a heart and soul leader who had a million reasons to quit on those chanceless teams in EDM, but never would have considered it.
Must be hard for him to look Larkin in the eye.

Former Oilers GM Glen Sather backs Mike Babcock:
“I would’ve hired him. Absolutely. I think he’s a great coach, and he’s gonna do a good job in Edmonton. I’m pulling for him 100%.”
Sather also responded to Mark Messier’s criticism of the potential hire:
“Mark has his own opinions. He’s not afraid to voice them. It’s his job to give his opinion. I respect his opinion. I hope he respects mine.”

Frank Seravalli:
“Babcock has campaigned internally for more size and brawn in his forward group, which GM Stan Bowman is now examining on the trade market.
One name that Babcock is believed to admire is New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe.”

According to the chart, 2026 is a B year: good times, high prices, time to sell stocks and values of all kinds. So sell.
(This is Samuel Benner's 1875 cycle extended by others. It has had some hits historically, but markets don't run on fixed 8-9-10/16-18-20 year clocks.)
