Meanwhile, the U.S. accounts for a larger share of Canada’s food imports than a year ago, despite all the noise about boycotts and diversification."

Statistics Canada’s latest agri-food export data show that the U.S. share of Canadian agri-food exports is essentially unchanged:
January–August 2025: 61.92%
January–August 2026: 61.98% ⬆️
That’s an increase of just 0.06 percentage points. Both round to 62%.
Diversification? Not in food—yet.
Exports to other countries have increased, but Canada’s dependence on the U.S. market has barely budged.

The latest figures offer a useful reality check.
The U.S. supplies roughly 47% of our agri-food imports and receives approximately 62% of our agri-food exports. Neither share has fallen over the comparison period. (Read full article in comments).

➡️ More than 2,000 regulatory notices reinforcing humane-care requirements

L’avocate aux affaires juridiques de l’UPA, Raphaële St-Amand-Valente, a expliqué que la Loi sur l’accès aux documents des organismes publics et sur la protection des renseignements personnels autorise la communication de renseignements entre organismes lorsque c’est pour faire appliquer une loi au Québec.”
