Mauviel 1830. La casserole française d’exception.
À Villedieu-les-Poêles (Manche), Ernest Mauviel fonde sa manufacture en 1830. La ville travaille le cuivre depuis le Moyen Âge, son nom fait office de cahier des charges. Mauviel en fait des ustensiles de cuisine. Sept générations plus tard, la famille est toujours aux commandes.
Le cuivre se martèle, se façonne, se polit. Certaines pièces sont étamées à la main. On y fabrique poêles, casseroles, turbotières…
En 1911, la White Star Line commande des ustensiles pour le Titanic. Aujourd’hui, la marque équipe l’Élysée et les chefs étoilés.
Quelque 70 artisans produisent plus de 1 000 pièces par jour. La maison travaille aussi l’inox et l’aluminium. Le cuivre n’a plus le monopole de la modernité, mais garde celui de faire briller les cuisines.
Quand l’étain intérieur s’use, on peut le refaire. Une casserole qui se répare, se transmet et survit à trois générations de repas de famille.
Le luxe français, c’est parfois payer une fortune pour un objet dont l’arrière-petit-fils héritera avant de savoir faire cuire un œuf.

Traurig! Het historische Kehlsteinhaus op de Obersalzberg bij Berchtesgaden (Duitsland) is zaterdagavond afgebrand. Ongeveer 200 hulpverleners bestreden de brand op een hoogte van 1834 meter; er vielen geen slachtoffers. De politie heeft een verdachte voorlopig aangehouden; de recherche van Traunstein onderzoekt de oorzaak van de brand.
Het historische gebouw, Hitlers voormalige theehuis , ook wel bekend als het "Adelaarsnest" is waarschijnlijk niet meer te redden. Het Kehlsteinhaus doorstond de Tweede Wereldoorlog grotendeels ongeschonden. Sinds 1952 deed het dienst als bergherberg. Tot voor kort huisvestte het historische gebouw een restaurant en een tentoonstelling over zijn nazi-verleden.
