The most significant development in US politics in the last ~2 months is how the curtain got pulled back on the Postliberal/NatCon right, and how "normie" conservatives were shocked at what they saw: A stream of crazy conspiracism around Tucker Carlson, crackpot economic beliefs that threaten the stability of the US dollar, unvarnished bigotry masquerading as immigration reform, and most recently a fascism-friendly multimillionaire who has been pumping white nationalist sewage into a network of nominally-conservative organizations. These problems have been festering for a while, as anyone paying attention to them could tell you. But they had largely escaped notice for two reasons. First, they are almost all peddled through intentionally esoteric messaging that circulates this stuff openly among the "in groups" of NatCon world but disguises it before the public, knowing that a platform built upon conspiracism and bigotry would prove extremely unpopular. Second, the main political beneficiaries of this garbage (who, strangely, all seem to hover in tightknit circles around the Vice President) used to be able to instantly mobilize to bury any negative press that called attention to them by "ratioing" it into oblivion and by smearing anyone who spoke out about it. That changed in the last two months. These stories reached escape velocity, and surpassed the ability of the Postliberals/NatCons to contain them. And that is why so many Podcastistan influencer types are in a complete meltdown right now. Their old containment tactics aren't working, and the curtains have been pulled back. But they don't know anything else to do, so they flail.
