Some bug happening on Colorado's Secretary of State website. @JenaGriswold can you get this fixed? It used to work great. (Cloudflare 520, "host error") -> unless it's just me??

One of downsides of being a Michigan fan is when your football team sucks it gets featured in the fucking Wall Street Journal so you don't get to crawl into a hole and pretend Michigan football doesn't exist for a while.
The nation’s top college football programs are shelling out astronomic NIL paydays to top prospects. Some of the deals have backfired spectacularly. 🏈 on.wsj.com/4y6J1ip

Michigan has a terrible football team, I no longer have to be chained on Saturdays (until the Ohio State game).

The zone outlined in red is getting pushed to work and study harder by their parents. The zone in purple is getting asked why they aren't married with kids yet.
The most educated religious group in the United States is Hindus. By a long shot. 47% have a graduate degree. Jews are next at 39%. Then a big gap. Those least likely to have a grad degree? Jehovah's Witnesses.

If I were tasked with building a cracked cybersecurity team for the US military I'd probably do the exact inverse of this list.

Of all the dimensions here, I'd probably not require people to be fat though I guess.

I think the only person that actually had an awesome time during COVID was the ferry driver who got to achieve his lifelong dream of doing donuts on the Thames and said it was “for the NHS workers”

I do too but usually politicians that talk like this make it so neither is possible.
I'd rather have an economy that makes 1,000 millionaires than 1 billionaire.

The hijacker (and co-pilot) on board FZ1073 stabbed Cpt Smit Machchhar, an Indian national during the flight, but the Captain heroically managed to open the cockpit door before collapsing. His quick thinking saved over 170 lives today and enabled the passengers to subdue the terrorist as he was attempting to crash the plane. Wishing him a full recovery and sending our thanks on behalf of Israel!

He's still got it folks. He might be the only known idiot savant of comedy. The rain man of bangers.
President Trump asked an African reporter, “how is ebola going?”

Huh, where have I heard that before? The big difference is the anti-Indian racists are much dumber and incompetent than antisemites and the world is a much different place than the late 1800s/early 1900s.
This week, @christopherrufo tackle the Indian Question. Among other things, this episode cuts to the heart of longstanding foundational political disputes that are simply unreconcilable, but which can longer be brushed aside. Namely that some people (perhaps most people) prefer to live in a homogenous society, and as America tips toward a majority-minority country, that fundamental preference is under threat. For a long time, liberals, who have more cosmopolitan preferences, have been able to pathologize the desire for homogeneity and subdue any explicit political effort to maintain a white majority in the country. A great many conservatives are no longer willing to be silent on this question. They are going to actively assert their preferences, and Indians, while relatively small in total number are nonetheless the fasting growing foreign born demographic in the country and the most conspicuous element of the 21st century mass immigration regime, and are therefore the inevitable flashpoint for this debate. *This episode we also took input from our Indian/South Asian friends @balajis, @razibkhan, @Indian_Bronson, and a secret 4th Indian.

Source control for code seems almost silly in the AI era. Like checking in compiled binaries. There's a higher level of abstraction for products and even companies that could be somehow articulated IMO. Made some attempts at the higher level artifact(s) but not great yet.

Imagine posting this thinking it makes the people trying to help someone in their community look bad.
I was passed these messages from a private Tamil community group. I removed the identity of the H-1B worker because this is not about attacking him. Instead, look at what happened around him. First, he develops an immigration problem after losing his job. Next, someone in the group asks whether they can “steer some help” through Congressman Suhas Subramanyam’s office. Another member says he had just met Subramanyam at an event and could arrange a call. Then, within the same conversation: “I reached out to Suhas and emailed him and forwarded to his immigration team.” — “Connecting his family to Suhas in the morning.” You may have missed it, but the messages say the worker lives in Herndon. Herndon in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. Subramanyam represents the 10th District. House Ethics guidance says members generally should not devote official resources to casework for people outside their district and can instead refer them to their own representative or senators. I don’t think Subramanyam was summoned based on the district he represents. Remember, this conversation is taking place inside a Tamil community network. So, it’s worth noting that Subramanyam has South Indian family roots, his father grew up in Chennai and he was a congressional co-sponsor of the resolution recognizing Tamil Language and Heritage Month. Sure, we don’t have proof of preferential treatment or what his office ultimately did. But we did get an unusually candid look at how political access in ethnic networks functions: Private ethnic community → personal connection → member of Congress → congressional immigration team. Despite being unable to vote and being out of district, people around him apparently knew exactly who to contact and claimed the personal access to get his case in front of a congressional office. The question I want answered is simple: why was this case being routed through Suhas Subramanyam and what did his office do with it?

Nothing in these screenshots indicates anyone in the chat has access to Rep. Subramanyan beyond what any constituent would have or any reason besides hope to expect help for non-constituents. Rep. Subramanyan confirmed that he did not treat the request specially. x.com/repsuhas/statu…

Legalizing Kalshi and online gambling in general is maybe the most egregious violation of Chesterton's Fence in history.
This Kalshi ad is among the most dystopian ones I’ve seen from any betting app

Fellow software engineers, we had a good run but I think it's fine to admit that it was the cushiest job of all time. High paying, you got to sit on your ass in front of a computer, and everyone else had to treat you as a delicate genius priest class.
