September 5th 2021 3:48 A.M. : This is the date and time that is burned into me; A parent can never forget moments that have a tragic impact on their lives. It is the date my only child was in an accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. All the best doctors couldn’t guarantee the outcome. Three months in a coma gradually rising from a gcs3 the outcome was not good. On 12/6 he woke up and although the outlook wasn’t good we fought all the negativity and stayed positive. Beyond doctors and expectations through hard work, thousands of hours in rehab and lifestyle changes needed he didn’t waiver. September 5th 2026 doesn’t just mark his alive day, it marks that never giving up and never saying “I can’t” is not in our vocabulary. For 5 years and 7 days a week we continue. That day not only devastated me it also changed me, my philanthropic views and opening my eyes to see people with disabilities rather than walk by has merged my path to amplify, advocate and help in areas that are much more than myself.
