Akwete is so freaking electric 🔥🔥🔥
Buying loads and loads of them. Watch out for my new looks in our lovely Akwete, culturally and traditionally originating from the historic town of Akwete in Ukwa East Local Government Area, Abia State.
Many thanks to the Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu who acknowledged Akwete’s origins by donating ₦2 billion to the Abia State Government to support and revitalize the historic hand-woven Akwete fabric industry.
Ndi Abia Ndewonu o for giving us this unmatched elegance of a global brand 💪

There's no amount of convulsing from anyone that could stop Igbo people from using their ancient headgear, ichafu.
If you like,go & hug a transformer in your village,we don't care.
For what we care about is our stunning headgear, ichafu, which is a symbol of Igbo cultural costume.

🇳🇬PEOPLE & CULTURE : The Igbo New Yam Festival — Celebrating Harvest And Community
The New Yam Festival, known as Iri Ji or Iwa Ji in many Igbo communities, is an annual celebration marking the arrival of a new yam harvest. Yam symbolises prosperity, hard work and agricultural abundance.
Celebrations vary across communities but often feature prayers, traditional dances, family gatherings and the ceremonial eating of newly harvested yam. Traditional rulers and community leaders may participate in honouring ancestral customs.
Beyond its agricultural significance, the festival celebrates farmers, strengthens community bonds and connects younger generations to their cultural heritage. It remains a powerful expression of gratitude, unity, identity and renewal among the Igbo people.
The New Yam Festival celebrates the richness of Igbo tradition and community life.
IGBO AMAKA ❤️
You are an usurper, deceitful, shady, treacherous, cheating and double-dealing bastard.
I grew up in igboland and never heard the word gele until the advent of social media. Our mothers call it AKISI OR ICHAFU. You think everything revolves around yariba. FUCTARD LOWLIFE.
THEY HAVE COPIED OUR AKUPE.
TOMMOROW THEY WILL CLAIM THEY INVENTED IT AND BECOME LOUD ABOUT.
YARIBAS SHOULD GO AND ASK THE FULANI ABOUT THEIR HISTORY

Look at them using the Igbo Akupe as an accessory, yet Ndi Igbo are not all over the internet crying about cultural theft! Tomorrow, they will claim Ndi Igbo copied it from them, the same way they’re trying to claim ichafu today.
GBAM!

Generally called ỊCHÀFỤ, while my dialect call it ỊCHÀVỤ.

We call it Ichafu, not Gele.
Ichafu is the Igbo word for a headtie, typically worn by women. It is a piece of cloth tied around the head for cultural, fashion, or religious purposes.

You foolish imbeciles from the slave coast, will be trying at all costs to claim and erase other people's names and culture.? But you cowards cannot stop Ndigbo and their language.
If u're Igbo, undrstnd dat d average Yoruba person doesnt like Igbos,
& IT DOESNT MATTER.
They don't dislike you becos u wronged them.
They dislike u becos you are everything they cannot become.
Protect your Igbo spirit. Ingenuity, diligence, grit, Execellence.
Eje ayo.

It was not popularized by the yoruba. ICHAFU has been part of our mother's dressing for centuries. Some igbo clans called it AKISI. let them not bring that lagos madness to igboland.
I never heard the word gele until the advent of social media.
This ichafu discuss, I really don't like talking about matters that breed so much animosity between tribes, but igbos do wear ichafu, it just happens to be similar to the yoruba gele.
I'm from delta state, ogwashi-uku, my grandma has always called her head gear ichafur.
I do think it was popularised by yorubas but the head gear just shows the similarity in culture and I think that's beautiful, and it shouldn't cause this much tribal war.

😂 My people, I am still learning the art of Igbo cultural dancing! My legs are trying their best, but I think they are still negotiating with the music. 🤣💃
Please rate my performance on a scale of 1–10. Be honest, but remember, I am still a work in progress! 😂

And this is how you talk about things in your culture if not it would be erased!
We adopt names that cause future problems.
And you people, Ofeakwu isn't banga stew!
Lets stick to the names of things concerning Ndi Igbo🙏🏼.
We said it from the onset the coastal road was meant to start and stop in Lagos.
Tinubu used our national resources to develop only Lagos.
You are absolving tinubu and blaming UMAHI
From your first statement i can deduce that you are scallywag.
Typical Yariba ewedu logic.
APC does not feed me and I am not part of those who support evil because a Yoruba man is the president.
What Umahi is doing to the coastal road is evil. If the people of Ilaje and Ikale don’t fight this evil with all might, they will never be developed till eternity.
This diversion is a crime against humanity and one of the reasons why I might never support anybody from the south east in federal politics.
To those Yorubas doing hallelujah about this project that will change our destiny forever, I pity your future generations. You are doing sycophancy not politics.
Tinubu our fellow Yoruba man must never be forgiven if he sabotages the Itsekiris and Ilajes in his bid for votes from Igbos and Bini people who are the most ungrateful elements towards his administration.
The diversion of the coastal road from the Ilajes and Itsekiris is not politics but pure criminal acts against the very people whose lands produces the oil and gas that funds that project.
Average yariba man is a dunce.
EWEDU LOGIC.
I don’t understand why APC government are trying to please the Igbo by all means, buhari did a lot for them , now federal government is diverting the coastal road again for the second time to please the Igbo , the first diverting in Victoria island in Lagos to please landmark event center, now they are diverting from Ondo to join join east west. How many federal road projects can we count in southwest compared to south east? Let’s wait and see the amount of vote President Tinubu will get in the east ?
There was nothing like yariba in 1800s. Yariba is a recent invention.
Some tribes still reject that name amongst you.
Know your history.
Secondly you can see that the gele you posted is different from OUR ICHAFU the girl is exhibiting.
