Just heard a funny story. The great Murray Walker was travelling with a BBC team to Spa for the Grand Prix. He casually mentioned he recognised a cafe on a small road near the circuit. He was asked if he meant last year. "No, it's where I parked my tank in 1944 and had a beer"

you kids may not believe this, but things were so stable 15 years ago that the news had to start reporting on people seeing Jesus in their toast

AI has changed many things, but I can't stress this enough... amateurs hacking large companies is not one of them. '94 citibank - uni grad buys access from other hackers for $100 - steals 10 million '00 - 15yo takes out yahoo, cnn, amazon using scripts other people wrote '05 - teens trick staff into leaking info that leads to the theft of paris hilton's data There's plenty more you just have to dig a little. Whether they did this in groups or on their own is also immaterial to me the risk assessor. What matters to me is the control failures that lead to it. Those control failures have only changed in one significant way: AI chat bots are now 'normal' and they are their own attack surface.

It seems a bit premature to declare that AI hasn’t changed the nature of cyberrisk when amateurs are (apparently) successfully and single-handedly hacking into large banks

I honestly don’t understand how Ads are supposed to work on me. There’s no way you think interrupting my video that I was watching will make me like your product

Regular reminder that something having a CVE number, or "being" a CVE, does not mean that it's real or valid, let alone impactful.

If you've read my book The CVE Archeologist's Field Guide, an honest Amazon review would really help. Any rating. One or two sentences is plenty: what was useful, what was missing. It has 5 ratings so far, and for a niche book that's the first thing strangers check.
