Three hours before kickoff today, the visiting fans set up tents at an elementary school outside Orlando and started unloading thousands of pounds of food. None of it was for them. All of it was for students at the school they came to play. The visitors were BYU. The food goes to the Knights Helping Knights Pantry at UCF, which started in 2009 as a class project and is now run by students for students. Last school year it gave out more than 185,000 pounds of food across nearly 60,000 visits. About 400 UCF students walk through it on an ordinary day. Roughly 35% of UCF students say they deal with some level of food insecurity. BYU fans have been doing this at road games since 2019. They call it Cougs Care, and the local alumni chapter picks the charity in whatever city the team is playing in. Last November in Lubbock they ran a book drive with Texas Tech fans for Literacy Lubbock. It was supposed to be one tailgate. It turned into a week. Here is what the Texas Tech side said about that. "Everyone wanted to help, so we decided to make this a weeklong event." They collected more than 6,000 books. Andy Reid went to Brigham Young University. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech. Both of them pushed it online. In Ames, Iowa they collected coats, shoes and blankets, and they did it in the name of a man from Des Moines named Charles Good, who in 1856 gave new boots to a group of children walking west. They were paying back a stranger 169 years later. At East Carolina they filled the Purple Pantry with more than 5,000 pounds. Tyler Stahle of BYU posted pictures from under the tent in Oviedo this afternoon while the food was still coming in. Last season the whole thing brought in 76,500 pounds, which was 15 times what it collected the year before, and the number of people taking part doubled to 26,500. The last time BYU played in Orlando, two years ago, fans left about 2,000 pounds for this same pantry. The tailgate was open to both sides, and UCF fans came and gave to their own pantry alongside them. Be honest about the size of it. One tailgate does not fix a campus where a third of the students are short on food, and the University of Central Florida is one of the largest schools in the country. The drive is also run by BYU's own alumni association, which means it is good for BYU too. And the pantry is not the only thing on that campus that needs filling. BYU lost today. UCF won 39 to 31 in double overtime. The food was already stacked on the tables by then. The cans were counted, the bags were loaded, and none of those people knew yet whether they had driven across the country to watch their team lose. They handed it over before they knew. When was the last time somebody did something for you with nothing in it for them. Thanks to @tstahle15 for sharing this story!

Here is another Disney gig I can post in the same number of weeks. This one is for the Java-leaning folks out there. It's not technically on my team, but we'd work together closely. This role is for the back-end services my team's apps consume. Feel free to share.

“Good morning Brothers and Sisters. Oh, actually, good afternoon haha. I just finished this talk before walking in this morning, so please bear with me. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is ****. (Proceeds to introduce for 3-5 minutes.) Last week I was walking my dog by brother *** house and I made eye contact with him. I knew then and there I was going to have to speak, so here I am. The bishopric has asked me to speak on *****. When I first got this topic…. (Explains what their initial thoughts on the topic were). (Brief discussion of substance) (Closes).”

I have a folder of 103 tutorial videos totaling 113 hours. I'd gone through a few of them when I had an idea. I had @claudeai write a script to extract the captions and turn the whole thing into a searchable OKF archive. Now I can have Claude query the content directly.

I won an Apple Powerbook 145 while working for an Apple reseller In 1992. It would have been my first laptop, but I decided to sell it to buy my wife a piano for our first Christmas together. I got $1500 for it and bought the nicest one I could afford. We still have the piano.

On a snowy day in 1980-something, I walked to Reliable Home Appliances in Bowie, Maryland, with $500. My goal was simple. Return home with a brand new Atari 800. I was successful. Thus began my 40+ year journey to have a career as a software developer.

Can artificial intelligence replace God? That question may sound provocative, but in an age when we turn to algorithms for answers, guidance, and even comfort, it matters deeply. I invite you to join me at YouTube.com/ChurchofJesusChr… on June 7 as we discuss how to hear God's voice in an age of artificial intelligence.

4 years ago I launched a retail brand for Latter-day Saints 3 years ago I helped 4 LDS musicians launch their discographies online 2 years ago I launched a book publishing company Last year I helped a magazine startup launch their retail channel But sometimes the headwinds of being a startup make me feel pretty invisible In the chatter of being mad about DW or the Blaze, I’d like to have a conversation - a serious one - about about what it would take. If you want LDS content that isn’t backed by boardroom investors or evangelicals who loathe you, you ought to look around because we’re out here. I didn’t start this to cash out in my 30s. I’m investing in this in my 50s because I can. Because I want it to exist. Artists, musicians, writers, and designers wanted.

Everyone is talking about building a GitHub competitor, like it's just 2 prompts away. Building something which works at this big scale, takes ages, I know GitHub underestimated the agentic era and being the leader in this space, they should have been the first one to solve this problem, but they still have the competitive edge, please don't screw up GitHub, we are all rooting for you.

This is great. It's time to resaturate the world and its icons. WELCOME BACK COLOR!
First time seeing a W logo change I see they were inspired by Apple's Liquid Glass design. A total 180 from the "minimalism" that's ruled the world for the last decade. Hope other brands add some soul to their logos too Before: After:

I bought a Tesla. Never thought I’d get an electric vehicle, but took a ride in a buddy’s Tesla and changed my mind. I’ve been using the supervised self-driving mode for my daily commute into DC. It’s pretty amazing. Today the car suddenly moved into the left lane, very abruptly. In that split second a very large piece of debris blew into the lane I had been in. The Tesla self driving system saw what I couldn’t see. When I drive I can only see from the perspective of the driver side front seat. The Tesla has multiple censors with different angles of view. It saw what I couldn’t. Importantly, even I I had seen it at the same time, the split second that it would have taken me to check blind spots and then consciously make the decision to move over would have taken too long. The Tesla knew all these variables simultaneously and almost instantly and was able to avoid impact safely. Well done @elonmusk and @Tesla team.
