🇨🇳 China surprised me again. And I think more people should see it for themselves. Here are 10 things that stood out to me 👇 1. The rhythm of daily life. 🍜 Crazy Chinese work ethics, they work super hard and smart, AI and consumer robotics are everywhere… 2. The rise of Chinese brands. 👟 Nike and Louis Vuitton are no longer the only aspirational names. Domestic brands like Anta and Li-Ning are increasingly visible. 3. Chinese EVs are seriously impressive. 🚗 The technology, features and price-to-value ratio made me rethink, currently driving a BMW. Thinking my next car will be Xiaomi or Zeekr. 4. Service is taken seriously. 🤝 The hospitality and attention to detail I experienced were exceptional. 5. The railway network & infrastructure 🚄 Fast, comfortable and well-organised. Travelling between cities was an experience in itself. 6. Infrastructure at scale. 🏗️ On a roughly two-hour drive to Leshan, near Chengdu, I was surprised by the highway quality and no construction. 7. Cleanliness, organisation 🐼 Visiting Chengdu’s giant panda research base, I was struck by how clean and well-maintained & organised the park was. 8. Data-driven toilet operations. 📊 I was surprised to see AI-enabled monitoring and KPI dashboards used in public toilet management. 9. A different digital ecosystem. 📱 WeChat Pay and Alipay make everyday payments incredibly seamless. Even saving a few seconds at checkout matters when multiplied across millions of transactions. 10. A different media perspective. 📺 I also watched CCTV news in the evenings. The news are way more educational & fact driven from what I’m used to on German television. It reminded me how much our perspective depends on the sources we consume. My biggest takeaway? For entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders, curiosity is a competitive advantage. 🌏 Go where the future is being built. Talk to people. Try the products. Observe how things work. Form your own point of view.
