THE WAYNE AYERS PODCAST

Renée Harrison wants in on The Hunger Games… as a Capitol villain 😈 When Wayne asked which franchise she'd join right now, she didn't hesitate. Her reason? The costumes. "Their costumes are just so elaborate. I would have to do it for the costumes." She'd also be up for a story arc that takes her from the Capitol out into the world. But she really wants something "ornate and regal," because "costume in general really lends to character." Her pitch: "Make me the villain. Make me an actual villain." 👑 Hunger Games casting, are you listening? 👀 What franchise should Renée join next? Is Candace really part of the love triangle? Renée Harrison says no 👀 As she puts it, the love triangle is “the Shaquille and Deborah of it all.” Candace “doesn’t really participate.” But she does admit to some “light defending, online and offline,” whenever friends call asking why Candace would do that. Her take: “It’s college. Sometimes things happen. People are allowed to be messy… even the character that is extremely well put together.” And her favorite comments so far? “I hate Candace but I love you.” 😂 Team Candace or nah? Dropped by her reps six months before the audition. Booked the role anyway, with one DM Renée Harrison had no theatrical representation when her friend Christian Johnson sent her the breakdown for A Different World. In the corner of the screenshot she saw a name she knew: Loretta Troutman, a casting assistant at Kim Coleman’s office. They’d met three years earlier at a friend’s birthday party, playing Mafia. (Loretta was the mafia.) So Renée sent the DM: “Hey, I am unrepresented theatrically, but if you haven’t found your Candace yet, I would really love to audition for her.” She auditioned. Then they shot the pilot. 🎬 Actors, this is your sign: every connection counts, even the ones you make at a party. Full story on The Wayne Ayers Podcast, link below.
