Pershing vs. Panther. Cologne.
On March 6, 1945, a remarkable tank battle took place in Cologne, Germany, between an American M26 Pershing tank and a German Panther tank.
🇺🇸 The M26 Pershing, with its 90 mm gun, offered a more balanced combination of firepower and protection against the Panther’s formidable armor.
🇩🇪 The Panther, with its long-barreled 7.5 cm KwK 42 gun and sloped frontal armor, was one of the most dangerous German tanks of its time.
📍 The clash occurred amid the heavy destruction of Cologne during the final days of the war. The footage became one of the famous urban combat scenes of World War II, showing the Pershing disabling the Panther.
