Private communication is a precondition for a free society. Any measure that forces backdoors to encryption and metadata retention, paired with broad government discretion, enables mass surveillance powers.
Privacy and security are central to the technology we build. That’s why we joined other Canadian and European tech organizations in a new letter outlining concerns about Bill C-22. fixc22.ca

The biggest fight Crypto needs to win the next 12 months isn't for another asset type to be tokenized or the Senate passing Clarity. This is happening. We won that already. Blockchains are eating Finance. Regulation is coming. Everything that can be tokenized, will be tokenized. And we should celebrate it. But the real fight is Crypto, as a philosophy, influencing the global techno-political equilibrium. This sounds abstract and grandiose but there is a fierce ideological battle undergoing right now and its result will shape the next decades. From Acemoglu/Sunstein trying to redefine Liberalism to the debates about datacenters, from open weight distillation to social media algorithmic transparency and from Catholic AI constitutions to trustless multilateral collaboration, everything comes down to the tenets of personal freedom/institutional credibility/verifiability/shared prosperity/participatory democracy. Crypto has tangible things to offer in each and every of these topics and if it succeeds in forming a positive and cohesive narrative about the Future, then this will cascade down to everything (public perception, new builders, pro-regulation) which now may seem impossible. I truly hope the new cycle will inspire new thinkers to come in front and shape a fresh Crypto political theory that will promote shared abundance, faster/better/more efficient markets, stronger personal freedoms, new governance models and rejuvenated communities.

Every wallet choice comes with tradeoffs. No one should keep their life savings in the same wallet they use for everyday convenience. The wallet page actually gets the most visits on ethereum.org. It feels like one of the places where we can improve guidance. ethereum.org/wallets/find-wa…
i'm so fucking done with all of your fucktards using hot wallets, getting compromised and losing your life savings because you stored everything on a hot device. i don't have fucking mercy with you. it's all your fucking mistake. stop using fucking hot wallets. hot wallets are a fucking bug. today alone we have had +2m in losses at SEAL 911 due to hot wallet drains (via device compromises). use a fucking cold storage wallet.

1/ Privacy is often thought of as politically risky. In this guest thread by @valkenburgh, Executive Director of @coincenter, he makes the case, in his own words, that the reality is the opposite: Privacy is essential to Ethereum’s promise of financial freedom and neutrality.

1/ You cast one vote onchain and just handed the whole world your wallet, your balance, and exactly how you voted. @phipsae's new article shows how to build private apps that don't leak who you are 🧵

ETH and the institutional adoption of Ethereum and its ecosystem on stage at @WebX_Asia – with @davwals and @fundstrat. Thanks for having us! #WebX2026
Ethereum is becoming an increasingly important part of corporate treasury strategies. Around the world, more companies are adding ETH to their balance sheets, while Ethereum ETFs continue to gain momentum. Curious about how Ethereum could reshape corporate finance? It's a trend worth keeping an eye on. @fundstrat #WebX2026

1/ How much electricity does Ethereum use today? We went back to the wall plug. 'Ethereum after the Merge – A Change in Power' – our updated assessment of the network's energy and climate footprint – is out today from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance. 🧵

Ethereum whole energy footprint is less than famous landmarks such as the British Museum. The result is 'Ethereum after the Merge – A Change in Power', out today from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, Cambridge Judge Business School at Cambridge Judge Business School – direct wall-plug measurements across 20 client configurations and two hardware profiles, and a far sharper picture of the network itself. 📊 Read the full report: lnkd.in/ejWZuUtJ

1/ When you open your wallet, check your balance, or pay a friend, it feels unobserved. But what your wallet gives away may tell a different story. New article from @escottalexander looks at why the layer that sees everything is also the layer that can protect everything ↓

The EF wrote this for the people whose job it is to be skeptical, not those of us who already believe. It reads like an internal due diligence memo a central bank would build before picking a settlement layer. It's objective, and unapologetic in comparing Ethereum to other chains. It explains the importance of different evaluation criteria to set the table before laying out the facts on Ethereum's dominance: Page 5: Quantifies security cost. Finalizing a fraudulent transaction on Ethereum costs about $50.7B to pull off, against $76B staked. Your stake gets slashed on the way out. That's more than Solana, BNB Chain and TRON hold combined. Page 28: Want to know who really controls a chain Look at genesis distribution. ETH: ~17% to insiders. Other chains were 50-90% to insiders. Check the charts. Page 37: Zero outages since 2015. None of the other players compared can say that. Page 38: Ethereum runs 5+ independent clients. Other L1s compared run 1-2. They explain the importance of client diversity too. Page 47: "Public blockchains aggregate global liquidity. Stablecoins, tokenized securities, and financial primitives on Ethereum are immediately usable across a broad market of participants. Permissioned ledgers remain liquidity-constrained by design. Even when technically functional, they often fail to achieve economic relevance beyond the initiating consortium." It goes on from there. This is a great information source that I hope becomes one of the first resources governments and institutions reference when considering their settlement network.
1/ Today, the Global Policy Strategy (GPS) team is publishing Ethereum Basics for Governments and Institutions, a non-technical primer to equip the leaders making policy and deployment decisions with an understanding of how Ethereum works, how it's governed, and how it compares with perceived alternatives.
