I love Shoja for his goal Infantino stole, but he should have retired from Team Melli an Asian Cup ago
⚽️🇮🇷 Here’s the Team Melli squad I would have called up for this international break. Am I forgetting anyone? Who would you add or drop?

They’re both so mad right now.

Returning to the layers and waterfall silhouettes of late 19th/early 20th century Iran. My great great grandfather had incredible style. I must have inherited something from him because I love 3/4 length cardigans and coats. I am going to need a cloak tho.

Pakistan did not build Ali Larijani
Ali Larijani was the corridor Islamabad built to connect Riyadh with Tehran. Assassination broke that link. Now, Arragchi and Pezeshkian are the key to relative peace and doomsday. For architects of chaos, both of them are at the top of the target list, even above IRGC command.

🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine. “In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.” “Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.” Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right. “If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’” The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.

I’m not sure if many people know this because as far as I’ve seen it’s gotten very little coverage, but air traffic controllers across Iran have been on strike on and off for almost a week now. A relative of mine’s flight on Friday at IKI was delayed for 3 hours because of it.

2. In Orthodox Judaism, married women cover their hair in public. An unmarried woman can attend synagogue without covering but it would be frowned upon in most contexts. To me, this looks like a spillover from changing attitudes towards head coverings in broader Iranian society.

1. I’d never seen this arrangement. Usually, the balcony is the women’s section, so men can’t see them during prayer. Maybe as these prayers draw larger crowds, they decided to be flexible to accomodate. But that in itself is unusual for what I'm assuming is an Orthodox synagogue

Two observations I had here: 1 - I notice the congregation is gender split, similar to mosques. But it was interesting how they were both split side by side ... and the top story was also the woman's section? Or maybe that was a family and kids area? I'm interested in the logistics of how they're set up and how that compares to mosques. 2 - Iranian hijab law applies to all public spaces and that includes in synagogues and churches. Though I think generally speaking the convention in Iranian congregations is for a ceremony like this hair would be covered anyway. In the videos I've seen in the past it's usually a bright colorful hijab worn on the head. I found it interesting here that there were lots of the younger woman that weren't wearing it. I wonder if this is similar to the rest of Iranian society post 2022 where they're now not wearing even in a ceremony like this or it was always like this.
