Hello fellow educators! I was just wondering how you are using clips? Especially in the younger grades. @AppleEDU
Thank you to everyone who shared. It is so great to learn from such talented and dedicated educators. Have a happy evening!

A8: Learn to love your work and play at it! If you are not happy, your students are not either.

A8: Remember, this is your job, not your life. Keep certain hours totally school-free. I almost never take work home.

A7: Clean. It is very overwhelming for some students to feel safe and secure in a very disorganized space.

A7: I think we should have "ugly" bulletin boards. Teachers spend so much time creating cute bulletin boards instead of letting the kids just hang up their work.

A6: I try hard to remember that no matter what I think, the parents are always trying to do what they believe is best for their child.

A6: Keeping the lines of communication open is important. I also think surveys can be useful in getting parent feedback. Another thing I try to keep in mind is that I am dealing with the most precious thing in their world.

A5: Student self-reported grades has a huge effect size! (1.44?) Students need to own their learning!

A5: The sad thing is that most of our students come to kindergarten with a healthy growth mindset. We need to be better about cultivating that belief.

A5: Model the behavior you want to see in the way students take on challenges. Share things that are hard for you and new things you are trying to learn.

A4: I also think it is important to remember that things that seem very unimportant to adults such as a lost tooth, may be extremely important for a student.

A4: Teachers show genuine concern by knowing their students. Not just their names, but their interests and struggles, too. I often see teachers choosing books and activities based on their students' interests and I know this makes the students feel loved.

A3: I also think students need to be explicitly taught about civil discourse, compromise, and respect. Even very small children can understand these concepts. Maybe they can help some of the adults in our society!

A2: Kids need to be taught to really listen to each other. Using timers with @KaganOnline structures gives all students a time to speak and a time to listen.
