Police punch Black woman 17 times—for smoking cigarette.
Bodycam shows she was already face down on ground—with hands behind her back.
Officer first punched her in the face—causing severe bruising.
Threw her to ground—all within minute of arriving.
They claimed to smell weed as the basis for the arrest—but it was a legal cigarette bought at the store down the street.
All charges against her were dropped.
Christina Pierre was sitting with her then fiance Anthony Lee at the time—they were both violently arrested.
He has now filed a federal lawsuit on their behalf against the City of Charlotte and two CMPD officers.
Claiming they unlawfully arrested him for smoking legal hemp that police mistook for marijuana—which led to the use of excessive force.
Incident occurred at a bus stop in the Steele Creek neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina.
