I never imagined I would have to share videos like these, but my family has endured more than any family should ever have to bear. ๐
For over two years, we and thousands of families in Gaza have lived in fear and suffering.
Even rats have become a threat to our childrenโs lives.
Last night, for more than four hours after midnight, we couldnโt close our eyes.
Three rats invaded our room while my little daughter Rafif was sleeping peacefully.
I killed one, and our cat, with my fatherโs help, managed to kill the other two.
Imagine being a father whose greatest fear at night is having to protect his sleeping child from rats!
Rafif, like every child in this world, deserves to sleep safely, not surrounded by fear and danger.
Save Gaza. ๐
Give us back even a little of the safety we have lost.
We are not asking for the impossible.
We only want a dignified life for our children.
Please, donโt stay silent.
Donโt stop speaking about the suffering of Gaza. ๐

I woke up at 4am and ruined a drawing I worked on for two hours yesterday. Not on purpose!
I accidentally picked up too much water with my paintbrush and ruined the paper in basically the centre of the piece. I had to start from scratch on a new page (and realized I need better paper). This is the risk of traditional media. Mistakes have gravity.
I spent another two hours redoing the whole thing and learned a lot in the process of that. I believe it all made me a better artist than an undo button ever could.
This is why traditional media makes different kind of artists and different kinds of images than digital media.
In Sudan, the transportation crisis and fuel shortages have made the journey to school a daily challenge for students. Amid this hardship, Sudanese people have taken it upon themselves to use their cars and other means of transport to help students continue their education.

Still thinking about this beautiful girl. Holding back her tears, trying to be strong as she watches her familyโs home be bulldozed to the ground. The weight of the whole world on her shoulders.
I look at her and I see my babygirl. My babygirl who just turned 14, almost a woman but forever my baby.
Thereโs NOTHING I wouldnโt do for her. NOTHING I wouldnโt do to avenge her heartache. NOTHING I wouldnโt do to right a wrong like this.
Every fiber of my being screaming DONโT TREAD ON ME when I watch this video.
Long live the Resistance.

C.S. Lewis, you have never talked to a mere mortal person

ALT There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors. This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously - no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption.

In Fahrenheit 451, the chief book-burner, Captain Beatty, describes how reading became obsolete because the public demanded increasingly fast-paced entertainments, and those entertainments slowly corroded their ability to think. โBooks cut shorter. Condensations. Digests, tabloids. Everything boils down to the gag, the snap ending. Classics cut to fit fifteen-minute radio shows, then cut again to fill a two-minute book column โฆ Many were those whose sole knowledge of Hamlet was a one-page digest in a book that claimed, โNow at last you can read all the classics.โ โฆ School is shortened, discipline relaxed, philosophies, histories, languages dropped, English and spelling gradually neglected, finally almost completely ignored. Life is immediate, the job counts, pleasure lies all about after work. Why learn anything save pressing buttons, pulling switches?โ
In this passage Ray Bradbury foretells the intellectual hollowing out of the working class, the advent of AI-generated โsummariesโ of classic novels, the attention-frying culture of short-form video, the relaxation of educational standards into non-existence. All of this in a book published in 1953.
