Looks like word’s getting out!
The Inquirer covered what we’re building in Philly: a growing coalition of people who are tired of watching rent go up, utility bills climb, and working people get left behind.
Thanks to Anna Orso for the coverage. Lots more to come!

PMA contract ratified! Last night, members of our chapter at the Philadelphia Museum of Art voted 99% to ratify a new 3-year union contract! The founding chapter of our local, PMA Union has been fighting for many of the wins in this contract since first unionizing in 2020!

We are sitting in Houston Hall for a scheduled negotiation session with Penn Management. They are refusing to meet with us. Why? They want us to close bargaining to our union members, who have a legal right to participate in these negotiations. What is Penn so afraid of?

City Council approved the Sixers’ proposal over the overwhelming objections of the city’s planning and design community, the surrounding neighborhoods, and dozens of organizations. This is a bad deal. I want to be clear that I will not support state funding for this project. 1/2

SEPTA just told @phlcouncil that if the arena opens without funding to pay for additional trains on game days, they will be forced to cut service in our neighborhoods.
SEPTA is already facing a death spiral -- we can't put the mobility of our city further at risk!
The arena cannot move forward without a clear answer on who will pay for SEPTA’s costs, which I firmly believe should be the developers of the arena.
If 76DevCo needs mass transit to make their project work, they should foot the bill.

We’re thrilled to be the next group of unionized workers at Penn 🎉 Unions belong at Penn!

ALT We are pleased to announce we have WON our union election at Penn Libraries! In the final count, certified by the NLRB on October 23, 2024, we successfully unionized, winning 40 to 27 votes.

ALT The new bargaining unit includes around 90 employees in Librarian, Curator, Archivist, Developer, and other professional titles. We join the existing AFSCME DC47 Local 590, which our colleagues in the Penn Libraries support staff formed in 1969. Congratulations to all of our colleagues at Penn Libraries on this win and thank you to everyone who has supported us through this process. We look forward to entering negotiations with the University and winning a strong first contract.

The Sixers have spent years trying to convince us to put an arena on 10th and Market, even if it means the destruction of Chinatown. The Chinatown community has been on the front lines time and again. Our city needs to rise up and support them.

.@PhillyMayor still hasn’t met with Chinatown, yet feels she can have a stance on whether our community should live or die.
This was never about one person, and this fight is far from over. We are going to fight this, and we are going to the mat.

We’re starting our 2025 contract campaign now to ensure every member’s voice is heard. Our first contract had major wins like guaranteed raises, paid parental leave, and workplace protections. We’re so excited to see what we can all dream up together for contract #2!
