The stakes in 2024: Democracy itself has become a partisan issue.
The fundamental reality of American politics right now: The conflict over whether or not the country should actually be a democracy maps onto the conflict between the two major parties. 1/

Here is the root of modern day GOP hypocrisy and racism.
Rather than allowing Government to also work for Black & brown people, Ronald Reagan convinced his conservative base that government can't work for the benefit of the people, ever.

I was sitting in music class with some first graders and I thought about a friend of mine who recently passed away. He put me on to this Drake song “Girls Love Beyoncé”. I started playing it and singing it. It made me feel close to him in that moment.

Imagine taking a few Bible verses on human sexuality as literal divine commands from God for all society, but minimizing the +3,000 verses calling for the care of immigrants, the marginalized, the oppressed, and the poor to a personal choice.

We are raised in a culture that says your worth comes from what you own & how you perform.
Anxiety is a natural human response to being valued based on performance. Not a disorder that needs masking.

"Why the narrative that critical race theory ‘makes white kids feel guilty’ is a lie" by @ChristieNold & @LadyOfSardines via @hechingerreport
Read: hechingerreport.org/opinion-…

ALT Black text on white background: Their concern is not that children will feel bad when learning about the fight for racial justice, but that children will feel good. Young white people with the capacity to act in solidarity with movements for justice are dangerous to white supremacy and its guardians. Those are the real stakes — not white children feeling guilty, but white children armed with truth, history and a righteous desire to work with others to change the world.

There is no such thing as being “pro-life” while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place.
It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.

The Georgia GOP just shoved their trans youth sports ban into their anti-CRT legislation, 15 minutes to midnight on the last day of session. It has passed.
It is so hard to reconcile being in a state that hates people for who they are with the love I have for us. I’m sorry.

Today 193 Republicans voted to keep insulin at $1200/mo instead of $35. Tomorrow every Republican will ask you to be outraged that gas is $4.30 instead of $3.30.
In the GOP world, $1200 for insulin in fair play but $4.30 for gas is an outrage.
Vote them all out.

You can't be "great at preaching the Gospel" while encouraging sexism, endorsing homophobia, and enabling abuse.
It doesn't work like that.
If you’re constantly marginalizing people, you aren’t faithfully preaching the Gospel.
Those things are mutually exclusive.
