We are the first utility in the U.S. to be issued a construction permit by the @NRCgov for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor, paving the way for advancing new nuclear innovation and enhancing America’s energy security. This achievement was made possible through strong collaboration among local, state, and federal leaders, the NRC’s rigorous and transparent review, and industry partners. Today, the TVA Board approved actions to protect consumers, ensure long-term reliability and continue meeting the Tennessee Valley’s growing demand for electricity.    We've created a new rate for data centers to protect consumers and keep energy affordable amid rising demand. New large power users will pay costs associated with their energy and infrastructure needs. We are one of the first utilities in the nation to take this step to protect families and small businesses.   The Board also approved the 2026 Integrated Resource Plan and our FY27 budget. We have signed the Trump Administration’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge, strengthening our commitment to keep energy affordable and reliable for the 10 million people we serve across seven states. With some of the lowest electric rates in the region, we’re working to make sure costs stay manageable as demand grows. We are exploring updating our rate structure for large power users, including fast-growing industries like AI, to help protect residential customers from cost impacts. Proposed updates will go to the Board for consideration in August as we continue putting customers first.

The TVA Board of Directors selects Mike Skaggs as interim president and CEO. Mike brings decades of experience at TVA and across the nuclear energy industry. He previously served as senior vice president of Operations and Construction at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant and led the completion of Unit 2 in 2016, a historic milestone for American energy. His steady leadership and deep operational experience will help guide our work as we continue to deliver reliable, affordable energy, serve the people and communities of the Tennessee Valley, and advance the next generation of nuclear power to support America’s energy future. We are listening. We paused our reliability improvement work for a new transmission line on the north side of Gallatin because we want to learn more. We’ve launched a new initiative to ensure community voices are heard as we work on projects that deliver reliable, affordable electricity to the areas that need it most. Members of this task force include longtime farmers and landowners, farm association members, people at electric co-ops who serve rural areas and union members. We invited country music artist @johnrich to co-chair, but he declined to serve. We still welcome and encourage his input. We remain focused on supporting the Administration’s energy dominance goals as we work on projects to meet the ever-growing demand for electricity from people across the region.
