I'm excited to announce the release of my first album on the WSU label, Solemn Music! This album features David Maslanka's three works for solo marimba: Variations on Lost Love, My Lady White, and A Solemn Music. It's now available on all platforms!
It’s an honor to be announced as one of the winners of The American Prize (instrumental category, professional division)! This award comes after the submission of recordings from my first album on WSU School of Music’s peer-reviewed label, “Solemn Music.”

It’s been six months since the release of my first album, “Solemn Music!” Released on WSU’s peer-reviewed label, it features the three unaccompanied marimba solos by David Maslanka.
I’m particularly proud of this being the first professional recording of his final work for marimba, A Solemn Music. The album is available on all streaming platforms (links to apple music and spotify below)!

I’m reflecting on a fantastic semester of percussion at WSU! Not only have we seen sustained growth in our area, but the level of talent continues to amaze me. I’ve been able to push my students farther and I love hearing what they’ve accomplished in their ensembles. GO COUGS!

Did you know there’s 232 members in the Cougar Marching Band this year, and they show up about 6 hours before football games to rehearse! There’s 12 sections, including 4 woodwinds, 5 brass, drumline, color guard, and twirlers. Sections vary by size from 8 (baritones) to 30 (drumline). More photos ➡️ facebook.com/media/set/?vani….
