A sense of disheartenment post the formal news that RIAT will move away from its home here in Fairford to Boscombe Down. RIAT needed assurances after the past few years of cancellations + base availability which as a result of this year, Fairford can no longer guarantee 1/4

As for Fairford, with increased security now and discussions about what that means ongoing its fair to say that for the aviation lovers who visit, it will be somewhat different going forward. Its been a very odd year but onwards we move! 鉁堬笍 4/4

Had heard this may have been on the cards. Big shame for those who come to Fairford and for local businesses who support. Will feel slightly strange in July not having the garden view anymore but hope RIAT continues on
RIAT to move to MOD Boscombe Down from 2027. This decision is an important step in securing the long-term future of RIAT, giving greater certainty for the thousands of visitors, volunteers, partners and supporters who make the event so special each year. 锔忦煄燂笍 Already booked your tickets? Your booking is unaffected and remains valid for RIAT at MOD Boscombe Down. If you have booked an enclosure, we鈥檒l be in touch soon. 馃敆Find answers to frequently asked questions here: airtattoo.com/faqs/

View out of the window the past few months with B-1s running training sorties almost daily out of Fairford

Now the B-1s have departed, I鈥檒l share some clips over the past few months here in Fairford. This was a one of a kind video as was filmed whilst the area was still locked down to non residents on 29 September

The sun has set on this deployment of the B-1s to Fairford. As posted in July, the plan was originally to depart in September but the past couple of weeks obviously delayed that. Given recent events hopefully we can see some normality around the area and beyond! 馃檶馃徏

Bit more quiet here after an eventful week and what started as a noisey Sunday as 6 x B-1s have headed back to the US 馃檶馃徏

It鈥檚 been a whirlwind but good to be back home. A great reminder of the power of local community the past couple of days. To the aviation folk who follow me (the majority 馃槀) needless to say huge restrictions around base and will surely be for some time

Would hope and expect some permanent restrictions to be put in place to safeguard the base and local residents ongoing 馃馃徏

Thank you to followers for the wellbeing messages. An unnerving incident to see unfold and very surreal to see our quiet village in the global news. The full details will be shared at some point I鈥檓 sure but credit to the vigilance of some and response of police

To add most of what I鈥檝e seen on Twitter is speculation and theorising. What is true is that vigilance of some triggered the response which was extremely fast. Security has needed to be tightened for a while now so one positive from today could be that鈥檚 finally put in place
