You know that you are old when the Pope is a year younger than you. Wish him a good recovery.

Excellent points and very realistic. Investors should be careful with the overpromising $RXRX and likes. $NVDA learned already their lesson.
Based on what we know today here is what I think about AI in bio: 1) At most, AI will be drug discovery and administrative/strategic service provider. Expedites the timeline before pre-clinical work begins. Assistant to actual scientists working on discovery. Post-discovery mostly helps with administrative or strategic tasks. 2) Discovering a molecule is different than running pre-clinical, clinical, manufacturing, registration and lifecycle management work that is compliant with health agencies of entire world. 3) We may have data rooms where current bios goes and bid for the AI discovered molecule that they want to add to the pipeline. This molecule comes with some theoretical assessment. So current Bios reevaluate phase 1 molecules and may replace them with AI discovered molecules. 4) It will take many years (~min 15-20) to have enough data to compare and analyze to what extent AI helped. How much of theoretical potential translated into actual new disease targets. We won’t see a complete transition. It will start with current companies adding 1-2 AI molecules in pipeline and see how it goes. 5) Lastly, the only scenario in which I see AI companies creating major biotech disruption is if AI companies get into running trials, manufacturing, registration and lifecycle management themselves and build in-house capabilities. But, if it happens, first 10 years we will be have pandemic of CRLs, warning letters, failed inspections, false label claims, fines, CEO jail times etc.. 6) AI & biotech won’t be competitors but relationship will be of collaboration and mutual benefits. We need to hear more from bio CEOs where they see this going. Cc @DaveARicks
