persuasion is perhaps jane austen’s most heartbreaking novel bc what could possibly hurt more than seeing the person you once loved, the person whose love once made the world feel warmer, and realising how much distance has grown between you?
idk if it’s just me seeing too much of myself in anne, but the thought of having feelings so suffocating and yet having no voice to give them shape. of knowing exactly where the warmth is and being condemned to stand in the cold. persuasion hurts in ways i cannot explain.
the actor who played colonel brandon NEEDS to be recast as captain wentworth in a proper adaptation of persuasion
«[…] anne did not wish for more of such looks and speeches. his cold politeness, his ceremonious grace, were worse than anything» 💔
i genuinely emailed joe wright when i was 15, asking him if he would ever consider making a film adaptation of persuasion. i wanted it THAT badly.

«your twenties and thirties aren’t the season when the results come. they’re the time when, after spring, summer begins: you’re growing lush and green, but you’ll feel the pressure to already be bearing fruit»
every country should be having more conversations like this and giving psychiatrists a platform to talk about the alarming state of young people’s mental health. we’re raising a generation that feels guilty for growing at its own pace.
having a misogynistic mother who worships the ground her son walks on while constantly belittling her daughter is a special kind of hell #summervacation
being a daughter with a brother is realizing that your mother can spend her whole life suffering under patriarchy and still turn around and teach you to serve the very men she’s spent her life serving. patriarchy really does reproduce itself inside the home #summervacation.
i was really missing the feeling of looking forward to a new episode every week #summervacation
it’s so sad how we all had big dreams for our future when we were young (even if reality eventually hit us) but she doesn’t even seem to want anything from life. she’s just surviving through the day, through the week, through the year #summervacation
idk what they put in #summervacation but i’m hooked guys. them sneaking out at night just to meet >>
