I just feel like as a Black person, you know the ballot box is deeply connected to our generational & ancestral trauma, so as a result of your ignorance— why would you choose not to vote? Regardless if you feel like it counts or not?
Break it down to me like I’m 5.

One of the reasons I fight so hard for my father 7 years later is because of the way he passed.
It’s an uncomfortable conversation, but I’m sure we all have an ideal way would like to leave this spinning ball.
My mother passed of cancer, which was absolutely brutal to watch.
My father however dying of medical malpractice just hit me that much worse. The difference wasn’t necessarily in physical pain each experienced or even loss of cognitive abilities.
It was the fact my mom, even at 57 was ready. She was tired of fighting especially knowing she had a death sentence. She was over a schedule that included dialysis and chemo throughout the week. She had seen her 4 children grow up and have grandkids. That was enough for her and as sad as it was she was content.
My father, was terrified. My dad was kept in the dark with uncertainty, tests, x rays and even being blamed for his own downfall by being stubborn. My dad hated hospitals since back when we can remember and we always acted as if he was dramatic. It turned out in the end he was right. My dad never knew he was going to die. He sat up in the ICU bed, smoke free after 14 days with a brand new lease on life and a “when I get out of here…” mindset.
And they slowly killed him. They killed the man over 30 days until finally his brain started to suffer.
Kidneys, liver, wound vac, intubated, dialysis, etc.
All slowly over 30 days….
I can’t imagine a worse way to kill someone
It will always be #JusticeForCharlie
I will always fight the healthcare system until the scales are more even and they are held accountable
I appreciate all of you making this page, my inbox, email and all the other things a safe space to continue to speak your truths on your loved ones
The fight is for them too.
