Greentext is alive and well.
I don’t know about you, but it’s apparently been a WILD day at my condo building. Trust me when I tell you that you are not prepared for this story arc.

The MMU3 still isnt a viable system. This one at least looks like a printer part, and not some github explosion.

emacs and *nix.
Web dev question for the old bastards 😂 What do you still use today that you were already using 15+ years ago? Mine includes PHP, MySQL, Apache, SSH, Git... and I suspect some of the boring survivors are still here because they solved the problem properly.

As a [semi-]Luddite just getting into using AI to assist with coding, I gotta say I feel like a fool.

I'd been hunting a data propagation error that moves across three different systems (one of which I have no access to) for half an hour. "Codex, do you see what's wrong with this?" [working] "You misspelled 'translation' in client.go"

That is the gosh-darned shiznit we are mother-freakin' talking about. (It also asked if it could run some tests outside the sandbox, so maybe it took a smoke break in the middle. Don't care.)

We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

In 1989, an idiot and his drywall work destroyed my entire vinyl collection. All the original Beatles albums. Dylan. The Dead. Count Basie. The classical. All of it.
In college the dorm room leaked and ruined a pair of brand new speakers I just bought. They wouldn't replace the full price. ~$179 I told them that they held all the cards right now, but I would never give a dime to them as an alumni. That was 1986. I tell this story every year when they call asking for money. Every year. New student is assigned to call alumni. And I tell them the same thing. I keep my promises and I hold my grudges. 😂

Mmmm, dotcom bubble posts are trending. So, who remembers their first local restaurant having a website? Mary Chung, 1994.

Pfft, please. Ivory or GTFO.
Who are the people still washing with bar soap? I need to know. How many of y’all are still keeping Dove and Dial in business? Like you walk into the shower, pick up a literal bar, rub it all over yourself, put it back. Not body wash. Not shower gel. A BAR SOAP.

I've been writing to autoblogs for years to tell them I can't take them seriously until the Honda Odyssey wins Pickup Truck of the Year.
To everyone that hates on minivans, can your car do this? Yes, the Honda odyssey can fit a full sheet of plywood comfortably. I see no reason to buy any other vehicle

AI does not reason. It repeats language, be that language written, spoken, seen, sung, played or built. AI seems to live and reason only because the original authors' reason and being are built into the works it memorizes and repeats.
I’ve come to conclude that A.I. knows everything, yet understands nothing.

(Also part of why AI interactions feel kinda like eating chicken nuggets instead of actual chicken. It's soul slurry baked into a predictable shape.) I tried to go further and describe the UI as the breading, but can't quite make it work.

It is my experience driving that every road in Boston is designed to get you the Hell out of Boston.
You miss one damn exit in Boston and you end up in another state
