Coach Shawn Sparks

My journey as the Head Football Coach at Azle High School has come to an end. How do you express 23 years of dedication to Azle Hornet Football, and 16 years as the Head Football Coach in words? I'm not sure I can, but here's my attempt. I hope I have made a positive impact on the countless students and athletes I have come into contact with because those before me had a profound impact on me. To the coaches who have helped create the vision of success alongside me, Thank you! So many countless hours working on a collective vision and being away from your own family. I pray the moments, memories, and succesess we had together will never fade. To all the players that helped carry out the vision and created reality- We have had so many memories and unforgettable moments that will stay with us for a lifetime. Thank you for helping me grow as a leader and as a person. I pray I have impacted you as much as you have impacted me. Whatever the next chapter has in store for me, we shall see? Two things I do know: 1) It's time for me to practice what I preach! We do not always have control over our circumstances, but we do have control over our response. “Control what you can control!” 2) I still feel called to be a positive influence and impact on young people's lives, and hopefully give them the tools to be successful for life. I will seek out my next opportunity to do so On to the next journey, I do not know what that is at this time but whatever path God directs me, I will attack it with the Hornet Blood that runs through me! P.S. There will be a time that we can talk about all the records and accomplishments we have achieved together.
