What if your agent could switch harnesses mid-run?
Imagine starting with Claude Code, then switching to Pi or Codex. Would it approach the task differently? Catch mistakes it previously missed? Could different harnesses complement each other? 🧵
we spent $25,000 to help you decide what reasoning_effort you should use
also open sourced all the trajectories for people to play around with!
have fun🎉

One thing that always confuses me is how to set the right reasoning effort level, to maintain a subtle balance between capabilities and costs. So we did a deep dive, with the amazing colleagues @KaiserWhoLearns @ykwon_0407 @zainhas @KaitlynZhou @federicobianchy at @togethercompute

I'm on the academic & industry job markets! I study how to turn swarms of AI agents into effective organizations, and how to keep human and AI judges from rewarding hype over substance. At CIST & INFORMS this week! jingyiqiu.com

AI is now taking on some of the hardest open problems that scientists have posed. But research is broader than solving problems. Can AI also propose research questions that experts find genuinely interesting?
We built After42 to find out. Experts judged 45 of its 135 final questions genuinely interesting, across mathematics, statistics, theoretical computer science, and physics, with wide variation across subfields.
The key idea: develop questions by trying to solve them.
We also asked whether AI can judge which questions are interesting. We find that model judges' top choices align with expert consensus but do not consistently capture individual experts' preferences.
We release the expert-assessed questions as an open resource for researchers to discuss, refine, and pursue, as a step toward integrating AI into the broader research enterprise.

Why stick with one agent harness for the entire task?
Surprisingly, switching harnesses mid-run (e.g. Codex → Pi) can dramatically reduce cost/tokens while improving performance!
Harness cascade opens a new Pareto frontier.

Together Post-Training is live
Turn open models into custom models you own, with SFT or RL.
You define the data, rewards, environments and the training loop itself. We run the hard infrastructure underneath it, tuned for quality and speed.

Very excited to announce the new post training platform from @togethercompute.
Together's team has deep experience in training, and have done seminal work in the field, from building the world's largest open datasets like RedPajama, new new architectures like Mamba, that have made their way into the world's leading models, to innovations in training kernels like FlashAttention. Our new training platform draws on that experience and talent to offer the most flexible and highest quality post training platform on the market today. Together Post Training, combined with our training FDE team, has been helping companies own their AI models and we'd love to help you if you are considering moving from rented to owned intelligence.

Your LLM agent has to think out loud, token by token, before it can search, run code, or act in the world.
We humans don’t. We ponder in silence and speak when it matters.
Human language was never meant to be the limit of machine thought.
Introducing 🌗Hybrid Reasoning Agents
- Think in latent space, act through text
- Two modes, one unified multi-turn flow
- No black box, fully readable latent thoughts
- Any LLM can become a HybridAgent

AI-generated scientific output is scaling beyond available human review capacity. Scaling scientific discovery requires scaling verification.
We introduce OSVerify, a framework for one-sided verification: rejecting as many invalid solutions as possible while preserving rare valid ones for expert review.
We used OSVerify to referee 11 recent OpenAI math preprints, identifying 5 major and 13 minor issues, all verified by human experts.
Our key insight: checking a proposed error can be easier than judging an entire solution. Instead of directly judging solution correctness, OSVerify decouples verification into error proposal (searching for potential errors) and error validation (checking whether they are real and substantial).
On competition and research mathematical benchmarks, OSVerify reduces invalid solutions requiring expert review by 46% on average compared to voting under the same low-FNR constraint, or 57% with an RL-trained validator.
Verification can also guide discovery. OSVerify can be integrated into existing scientific discovery workflows. Paired with an agentic math solver, it helped resolve 3 open conjectures in the Langlands program and contributed to resolving the Manin constant conjecture. All proofs were confirmed by mathematicians.
Our broader goal is to provide verification-based evaluation signals for scientific discovery, enabling test-time scaling and self-improvement even when reliable automatic evaluators are unavailable.

Voice cloning has become remarkably powerful, but how good is it? We found even SOTA models do not perfectly clone a speaker’s voice!! They systematically transform the original voice in subtle ways, making it sound more authoritative (!) and more humanlike than the real speaker!
NEW paper at #Neurips 2026!
We cloned the voices of non-native English speakers (n=86) with ElevenLabs, Coqui-XTTS and ChatterBox.
In 4,000 human ratings, the clones sounded warmer, more authoritative, and even more *humanlike* than the real speakers.
Listeners also said they would trust the clones more.
