We are at the Madrid airport waiting for our EL AL flight to Israel. We were warned not to come to Spain due to rampant antisemitism. In 4 days here I saw 1 Palestinian flag and 1 woman with a watermelon pin. Nothing compared to the public Israel/Jew hatred in Toronto.

I used to live in Madrid. People are, generally speaking, quite politically moderate Biggest protest I saw was on International Women's Day. And it was majority professional women But other parts of Spain, Catalunya and Andalucía in particular, are aggressively anti-Israel

A huge rent protest encampment in a public square while we were there

Not true. I'm a Jew and I live in Spain. We see small pockets of the same activist and far-left political groups everywhere, be it Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao or Malaga. What we have in Spain is nothing like what we can see in other Western countries, Canada included.

No, I didn't mean to suggest it's similar to Canada where I now live. Rather, my point is that if he were to see protests, it would be more likely in Catalunya, Andalucía, or Basque country, which all have a stronger protest culture than Madrid.
