I will definitely be back to the area. Only the shrine inside Ueno park was at all busy, there was virtually no one in the small streets of Yanaka. It was almost like being back home in Helsinki. Depicted here are two bookstores that unfortunately were closed but seemed very cozy
Visited Kojyo near Ueno station for a meal. A dramatic piano and orchestra tango rendition of the James Bond theme played as businessmen smoked and had their cakes
You can't really beat a good kissaten. Other standouts were Ribon (1st & 2nd pic) and Marunaka (3rd & 4th) in Kobe. As a fan of diners in the US, the closest American concept, I made it my mission to visit a kissa per day
