something unusual. most queries want polish, want refinement, this one wants raw data stream.

I think this is another good example of why replacing $AVGO isn’t as simple as hiring more chip designers.
If these HBM pricing reports are accurate, Broadcom’s volumes are now large enough to get roughly the same pricing as NVIDIA. That is worth something to its customers, even if much of the saving ends up with Google.
People talk about cutting out Broadcom’s margin as if all of it would become savings for the customer. I’m more interested in how much would actually be left after taking on the work and negotiating component purchases yourself.
The bigger Broadcom gets, the harder that calculation could become.
good god this would be the pits of indignity

UAE officials have warned the UK government that the severity of Man City’s punishment could undermine their appetite for future grand-scale commitments in Britain, according to people familiar with the matter
They consider the Premier League’s actions to have an influence on the bilateral state relationship, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing undisclosed information
The extraordinary pressure comes after Andy Burnham faced criticism, including from within government, for saying Man City’s Abu Dhabi owners should not be disqualified specifically because of the investment they bring to Britain

Been seeing Albert Hirschman everywhere lately. First with NHJ's essay about her school choice for her daughter.
His Exit, Voice and Loyalty idea came to working in Nigeria in the 1960s when he noticed that the railways were deteriorating because the most vocal customers had abandoned them for the roads.
And now this "billionaire" who died in Zimbabwe a few days ago because...

LOL. Dementia made him say drug factory. So then his broken brain has to pretend he meant that & this is the nonsense that comes out. Its just incredible how deteriorated his brain is. He does 50x more shit like this than Biden ever did at his worst. The media ignores all of it.
got to admit some amusement at the blithe combination of slashing defence cuts and inventing a huge new mission

Growth in FRED users well above 20% *per year* for 30 years. That's impressive!

🚨 IBM just open sourced the document parser that every AI pipeline actually needs.
PDF. DOCX. PPTX. XLSX. HTML. EPUB. Email. Audio. Video. Images. LaTeX. Apple Pages. XBRL financial reports. USPTO patents.
All of them. One library. Three lines of code.
It's called Docling. Built by IBM Research Zurich. 216 releases. 3,600+ repos depending on it. And it just added video parsing.
Here's what three lines actually does.
from docling.document_converter import DocumentConverter
converter = DocumentConverter()
result = converter.convert("arxiv.org/pdf/2408.09869")
print(result.document.export_to_markdown())
Any document. Any format. Clean structured Markdown ready for your LLM.
Here's why "advanced PDF understanding" is different from every other PDF parser.
Most PDF parsers extract text. Docling understands the document. Page layout. Reading order. Table structure. Code blocks. Mathematical formulas. Image classification. The difference between a heading and body text. The difference between a data table and a decorative layout.
The output isn't raw text. It's a structured DoclingDocument with semantic meaning preserved.
Here's what just shipped that nobody is talking about.
Video parsing. MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WebM — full ASR transcript plus representative keyframes extracted automatically. XBRL financial reports — the XML format that every public company's SEC filings use. Email parsing — EML and MSG files, full structure preserved. Chart understanding — bar charts, pie charts, line plots converted into tables or code with detailed descriptions.
One library. Every format your data actually comes in.
Here's the AI integration stack it plugs into natively.
LangChain. LlamaIndex. CrewAI. Haystack. MCP server for any agent. OpenAI-compatible API server via docling-serve. Claude Code and Codex skills included in the repo.
Your AI agent can parse any document as a native tool call. No custom parsing code. No format-specific libraries. No brittle regex.
Audio support with ASR models — WAV, MP3, WebVTT. Extensive OCR for scanned PDFs. Visual Language Model support including GraniteDocling. Local execution for air-gapped environments.
One command.
Markdown output. Immediately.
216 releases. 325 contributors including Claude. MIT License. Hosted by LF AI & Data Foundation.
100% Open Source. From IBM Research.

Interesting old school rugby shamateurism feel to this. Increasingly fraudy
There is no suggestion of personal wrongdoing by Mubarak, but c'mon man, there kind of is because otherwise why would the Financial Times be reporting on whether or not he has diplomatic immunity

Moral superiority based on suffering, that is the real justification of any social institution, public or private, in the modern West (especially, the United States)
The underlying assumption is that suffering directly translates into value
It is very important to understand that this assumption is wrong

That is the primary reason university attracts public scrutiny (and wrath), in a way corporation does not
People suspect they may be secretly having good time in the university. *That* is unacceptable
In a corporation, they at least suffer, which makes the economy economier

Marxism relies upon the labour theory of value
Neoliberalism is based on the suffering theory of value
Economy depends upon the people suffering, and the more they suffer, the economier it is

You know, I was hopeful we'd see a supersonic passenger airliner come back soon, I just didn't expect it to be the 737 MAX...
Taking the data released by @flightradar24 and applying some physical modeling - yes it's very possible that airspeed exceeded Mach 1, but it's hard to be certain because of inconsistent reporting in the data. However looking at the shape of the graph I'm thinking that more data might smooth the rapid descent enough to make it subsonic.

I feel like the conservative version of "just make everything free" is "just carry a gun everywhere." Every time something bad happens there's always someone popping up to be like "Well I would have pulled out my gun and shot everyone involved."
