Russia is nearly bankrupt. As reported by Bloomberg, Russia is planning—for the first time in at least 18 years—to postpone the payment of December salaries for Ministry of Defense personnel until January, due to a budget deficit. According to a draft document from the Russian Ministry of Defense, payments to Russian military personnel for the month of December will not be made at the end of the year as is customary; instead, they will be shifted to the period between January 11 and January 21, 2027. Notably, this decision does not currently apply to those occupation forces directly involved in the war against Ukraine.

German defence company Helsing, based in Munich, has presented two new interceptors—the AD-1 Inferno jet-powered drone and the AD-2 Ambush rocket—as part of its Contra autonomous air defense system, Militarnyi reported from a Berlin presentation by co-founder Gundbert Scherf. The AD-1 Inferno is designed to counter high-speed strike UAVs and cruise missiles. It can patrol, operate in a swarm, and make repeated attempts, receiving midcourse guidance from radar before using its own radar seeker. According to the company, it can operate at altitudes of up to 9–10 kilometres (5.6–6.2 miles). A single container holds around 20 interceptors, transportable by truck or rail. Contra uses AI to fuse sensor data and coordinate effectors, with the Altra platform allowing operators to retain decision-making control. Production is planned at Resilience Factories, with the interceptors intended to be significantly cheaper than conventional SAMs. The AD-2 Ambush is a solid-fuel rocket interceptor for high-speed and low-observable targets. It reaches speeds over Mach 2.5, with a combat radius exceeding 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) and a maximum engagement altitude over 9 kilometres (5.6 miles). It uses an AI-enabled radar seeker with midcourse radar corrections and can operate in adverse weather. Containers hold 20–40 missiles. Let’s do the math. ​40,000 tons is roughly 300,000 barrels. ​The US consumes about 4 million barrels of diesel per day. That means this entire tanker covers less than two hours of American demand. ​At the same time, the US exports around 1.5 million barrels of diesel a day—meaning this shipment is equivalent to just 4.5 hours of US exports. ​The voyage from Ust-Luga to US terminals takes 2.5 to 3 weeks. Today, we had important talks with our American partners and with our other partners from Europe. Steve Witkoff was also here with us in Oslo, and Jared Kushner joined us online. Ukraine immediately supported American proposal for an energy ceasefire. But Russia responded by continuing its attacks. We offered different options. We are ready not to hit sensitive parts of Russia’s energy sector if Russia stops hitting ours. Putin said no. But we’re working to find a solution. We have some clear ideas on how to get to peace. And we are united with our European partners in this effort, and we want the Americans to take these ideas to the Russians. One of the important ideas is to move to a potential trilateral meeting of the leaders to address the issues that only the leaders can do. Steve is going to Russia tomorrow. They've threatened to use these features if they suspect your an undocumented immigrant attempting to flee. They've shut down Starlink during crises. Now they shut down Starshield in Ukraine due to their attacks on data centers in Russia. Why would we put so much power in the hands of an emotional lunatic?
