Our work is finally out! How do organs get the right shape on time? We show that a mechanical feedback loop between the ECM and Yap1 drives timely tissue growth of inner ear canal, and a built-in termination system shuts it down once morphogenesis is done. x.gd/4FASh

We are thrilled to share our first manuscript! A proteoglycan Versican helps the swollen hyaluronate in ECM accumulate & swell more for inner ear canal morphogenesis. The transcription factor Lmx1b promotes the synthesis of this sugary matrix! @yusuke949 & Sierra's hard work 🙏
Versican controlled by Lmx1b regulates hyaluronate density and hydration for semicircular canal morphogenesis biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #bioRxiv

💫NEW: @OphirKlein, @CampasLab & co report that cell proliferation induces localized mechanical compression in the tissue, driving the formation of the main mouse tooth signaling center via differential YAP expression. 👉🏿rdcu.be/dEDKw nature.com/articles/s41556-0…

check out my tissue actuation post for @EpiMechFC just out today! Big thanks for @EpiMechFC for the opportunity to share insights and cartoons :)
What’s the link between Origami and morphogenesis? This is the world of Actuation, I’m @AR_AbdelFattah, and I’ll share with you insights, experiments and an outlook on how epithelia use mechanical forces to gain geometrical and functional complexity.

Very excited to share the latest work from our lab, led by great postdoc @AntoineVian. We developed a new technique to measure osmotic pressure directly in vivo and in situ, within living tissues. Check out the 🧵 below or the preprint in the link here ➡️biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
