From FB… This is enraging, heartbreaking and wholly unnecessary. It’s also healthcare under Danielle Smith’s “refocusing”. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Nine days before the referendum, Danielle Smith will be sharing a stage with two known separatists and someone who calls Indigenous deaths in residential schools a hoax. When someone shows you who they really are, believe them.

I'm now free to join the ranks of @JMeddings @BradenMannsYYC @PfParks There are many ways to fix health care that don't involve a private care. First of, STAFF THE HOSPITAL APPROPRIATELY - 7 days per week and on nights. The acute care system can't run on bankers' hours.

NEW: According to a report from @DemocracyWatchr, the lobbying commissioner has disciplined just three lobbyists for illegal lobbying since 2018. Yet, according to the commissioner's office, there have been 31,806 infractions in that time. Link 👇👇👇

If we are going to change AB's future healthcare I strongly believe that it will require intervention from the PM. The chances of that happening is proportional to how many letters he receives from all of us. We've written one. Hope you all do too. theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

FWIW: The UCP was not "hijacked by separatists." Unless you consider a pilot handing out boxcutters to passengers "hijacking." The UCP brass knew who they recruited. They passed a bylaw (5.7) allowing factions to hold the leader hostage. All of this was entirely predictable.

Fun fact for the seppies: the share of QC gov't revenue budgeted in 2026 to be funded by federal transfers was about 19% for 2026-27, including equalization. The share of Alberta's government revenue expected to be funded by federal transfers in Budget 2026 was 18.4%. 1/2

There is a subtle point in here. The fact that you can pay to get it done next week shows we *have* the capacity. GoA is choosing the expensive route - test$+profit$ (case by case) rather than negotiate a bulk buy through the pub health system. This simply costs us more.
Albertans: PUBLIC MRI’s are booking almost two years away. UCP solution = let rich pay to jump this queue, taking more staff from public queue, making public queue longer That’s their stated plan in action already. EVERY AB should be asking why public queue is so broken!

Over the ten years, Premier Smith claims Alberta faced a hostile federal government, oil and gas production doubled, and Ottawa poured tens of billions into energy infrastructure. The tolerance of her big lie is almost as remarkable as the lie itself. thewalrus.ca/alberta-separat…

SAY ANYTHING The UCP tells separatists one thing behind closed doors and the rest of Alberta something entirely different in public. So what does the party actually believe? Apparently, whatever the people in the room want to hear. The president of the UCP’s provincial board publicly stated that Premier Danielle Smith told him the government’s $4-million “Support Canada” campaign would remain as neutral as possible on separation and would not take a position in the referendum. Now the Premier says his account is untrue. She insists she is pro-Canada, will vote to remain in Canada and that the campaign will support Canada. So what is the truth? Either the president of the UCP publicly misrepresented what the Premier told him, or the Premier told him what he wanted to hear and is now backpedalling. This is the fundamental problem with the UCP: it is a party without conviction. When the audience is separatist, they’re separatists. When the audience is federalist, they declare their love for Canada. They will say anything to anyone, in any room, at any time. It’s all about power and control and whatever they need to do to maintain it. That is why no one can say with certainty where this government truly stands. I cannot tell you whether the UCP is a separatist party or a federalist party. Quite frankly, I’m not convinced they know or care. What is clear is that they have repeatedly empowered separatists, made deals with them and kept their dream alive, while reassuring everyone else that there is nothing to worry about. Now the president of their own provincial board has exposed the contradiction, and the Premier is publicly denying his account. This is what happens when you tell different people different stories: eventually, someone repeats what you told them. Albertans deserve a government with the conviction to say what it believes and the integrity to say the same thing in every room. #abpoli #alberta #abtory #canada #ucp #ableg

The claim they aren't privatizing airports, just their OPERATION, is equally trite. Locked into super-long-term lease contracts, the public interest is superceded just as surely as if the land itself was sold off. Good example, Ontario's Highway 407. nitter.cf/sarobertson_/status/20… /4
Economist Jim Stanford on opening airports to private investors: "Whether the actual land is still publicly owned or not is almost a moot point. This is going to be Highway 407 of the skies."

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen the CBC refer to Mr. Manning as a “Conservative elder statesman.” Say what? He’s the superannuated godfather of the Canadian right. And he doth protest too much, methinks, seeing as it was he who brewed up Ms. Smith’s 51st state blackmail scheme.

I'll add this is very similar to what John Murdoch, the Calgary oilman who recruited Smith to join the Wildrose, told me after she crossed the floor to join the PCs.

Minister, the most important regulator in the country MUST be seen to be completely independent from govt. You just blew that big time. It’s time for your resignation and for the rest of Cabinet and Premier @ABDanielleSmith to order a public inquiry to regain confidence in AER.
