~12yrs ago, I got a job @Google. Those were still early days of cloud. I joined GCP @<150M ARR & left @~4B (excld GSuite). Learned from some of the smartest ppl in tech. But we also got a LOT wrong that took yrs to fix. Much of it now public, but here’s my ring-side view👇
In my latest blog post, I describe how to execute Dataform workflows on Google Cloud.

Noticed on my Youtube that some account pretends as an official @Metallica channel and live streaming 72 Seasons playing an entire album (it's actually an old interview) and running a crypto giveaway??? The scam channel is youtube.com/@Metallicalive2
I vacuumed the dust from the CPU fan on my desktop computer and the CPU temperature decreased by ~30°C

Tip for a free time/weekend project: write BigQuery query take will go through current exported usage and calculate new Cloud Storage costs based on announced pricing. Extra feature: create DataStudio template with nice charts, displaying current and projected costs.

This was kinda refreshing... Instead of debugging code for hours and finding an error, today I spent ~2 hours debugging the washing machine. It reported that the pump needs to be cleaned, i.e. water wasn't draining.
Google Cloud releases from last week that caught my attention:
- Cloud Composer 2. The next generation of managed Airflow based on GKE Autopilot offers truly auto-scalable resources.
- It's possible to set up Billing budgets for a custom period of time (not just a month).
- Cloud Load Balancing now supports load-balancing traffic to endpoints that extend beyond Google Cloud, such as on-premises data centers and other public clouds that you can reach using hybrid connectivity.
