Lewis Hamilton was asked about his thoughts on the gap between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, and he answered in the most classy way, as always 👏🏽 "Um, Imean, I don't really know what the challenges have been from... I'm not in the team, so. Um, I do know he's had a lot, a lot of problems, a lot more or most of the problems have been on George's car this season. Um, and so I think it's been very, very challenging for him. Whereas Kimi's kind of had a much more simple, in respect to kind of issues with the car through the year. But, um, and then he's also delivered just when every single weekend. So, um, I think George had a really good pace, particularly at the beginning. Um, but it's like a couple steps forward and a couple, you know, a step back. So, I mean, I don't really know why the gap has is as big as it is. But, um, I'm sure he'll bounce back. Each weekend, he comes back and gets his best"

He’s spent years being one of the most consistent drivers on the grid and now he’s questioning everything because nothing seems to make sense anymore. The fact that he’s never experienced anything like this in his entire career says a lot I hate this season so much
George Russell says he's never had a season quite like 2026 "I think it is definitely important to me to try & gain some consistency. A couple of races ago I was on pole, last weekend I finished P8. I've never had a season where the performance has fluctuated so much." Via F1.

love love love hearing this coming from him, i already knew this, but it’s important that HE KNOWS what he is capable of. don’t let anyone convince you that he doesn’t believe in himself, that he lacks the mentality or what not

He has an amazing mental state for a person who's been through a lot this year. George always was and is fast and consistent driver and one unlucky year wont change that. As Lauda said: "winning is one thing, but out of loosing you always learn more". Come back stronger george!
🔥 George Russell says this is not the end of his journey. "I'm 28, I see Lewis competing very well at 41, Fernando is (45). Lewis won the majority of his titles in his thirties." "I've been racing more years of my life than I haven't. I've had more successful years than relative failures. I don't think any athlete, no matter how great, has had every year of their career competing at their highest level." "It is not the end of my journey, I had a good 12-15 years left in me."

George Russell on his difficult 2026 season “I have learnt more about myself this year than I would have liked to in all honesty.” “I am 28, Lewis (Hamilton) and Fernando (Alonso) are still competing extremely well in their 40s. Lewis won most of his titles in his 30s, this year will not define my career as a whole. It will not break me, it will make me stronger.” “Every athlete has seasons where they are not at their best level. Unfortunately this year for me has come at the time I needed it most, but this is nowhere near the end of my journey.”

Replying to @F1GuyDan
Slamming him for mentioning Lewis completely misses the point. He’s not saying 'I am Lewis,' he’s pointing out a statistical fact, drivers in modern F1 race and win well into their 30s and 40s. The reading comprehension on here is shocking but well not surprised

I still believe in Mr. Consistency. Neither a Formula AI season full of technical problems nor a garage that failed to back him when he needed to click with the upgrades will change my mind about his value. Hard work will pay off again against those who always get the easy path.
